Indian Premier League, 21st match: Deccan Chargers v Delhi Daredevils at Centurion, Apr 30, 2009
Delhi Daredevils won by 6 wickets (with 8 balls remaining)
Played at SuperSport Park, Centurion (neutral venue)
30 April 2009 (20-over match)

12.30 local About time to start. Plenty of emails coming in asking why Laxman and Glenn McGrath are not playing. Laxman just hasn't looked like clearing the infield and he's had a few chances to do so. The two times he did manage to get some elevation he didn't have enough to clear the ropes, instead finding the fielders in the deep. As for McGrath, we don't know what the team management is thinking and what McGrath's input has been. So its all speculation, which is pretty pointless. Lets leave these two be and look at who's walking out to open right now. Time to start the innings. Dirk Nannes has the ball for Delhi and he will bowl to Gilchrist. Not much of a crowd in yet. Two slips in place.

12.00 local This is a ground with short square boundaries. Both sides have aggressive openers, the only difference being that Deccan's have fired while Delhi's have not. The pitch looks another good one for the batters, and its rather dry, so the side batting first will call the shots. Its a bright sunny day.

Lets head down to the middle, where an energetic Ravi Shastri has the two captains for the toss. Adam Gilchrist flips the coin, Virender Sehwag calls tails and wins, and he says Delhi will field. So much for my notion of batting first! Delhi have no changes.

Gilchrist looks unperturbed at losing out the toss. Well given the batting line-up he has why should he be? He and Herschelle Gibbs are in fine form. Deccan have made one change, resting VVS Laxman for T Suman, who gets his first game. Laxman has had a poor run in the IPL.

11.40 local Its game 21 of IPL season two and we have the Deccan Chargers facing the Delhi Daredevils at Centurion. On form these two sides have looked the best in the tournament, Deccan yet to lose a game and Delhi shaping up to be the most likely opposition to upset Deccan's momentum. I'm hoping for a good game.

We're still about 45 minutes away from the start, and 15 from the toss. Have you updated your Fantasy League teams?

Keeping with the teams involved today, have a look at our Index feature, which has 10 things Delhi's Paul Collingwood and Owais Shah could do to keep busy, since their services don't seem to be required on the field. Its worth a read.

Since we have time to kill lets have a quick round-up of the other news in the game. After nearly two weeks of the IPL in which veterans like Matthew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist have been at their best, Sachin Tendulkar has insisted that age has little relation to a player's performance in Twenty20. Elsewhere, the ECB has confirmed that there will be a second, two-divisional, Twenty20 tournament from the 2010 season to provide their version of the IPL including extra international players. Twenty20 just dominates the headlines, eh?

0.1

Nannes to Gilchrist, no run, beats him first ball, running in from over the stumps, finds a gem of a length and some late swing and some bounce to beat the bat, Gilchrist just poking at it

0.3

Nannes to Gilchrist, FOUR, take that, is the reply! Plants the front leg forward and backs himself to connect, and does so pretty darn well, biffing the fuller ball over mid-off's head for four

0.4

Nehra to Ojha, 1 run, OUT, run out to end the innings! Nehra aims for leg stump with a full ball, Ojha clears his toes and clips in the air just wide of midwicket, but Vettori throws himself to his right, stops with one hand, tumbles, has a look to see whats happening, and throws the ball to get Ojha

PP Ojha run out 1 (1b 0x4 0x6) SR: 100.00

Delhi have really pulled it back in the last few overs. They need 149. Sehwag and Gambhir really have to click.
