Indian Premier League - 26th match

Chennai Super Kings v Delhi Daredevils

Chennai Super Kings won by 18 runs

16.40 The Delhi team walk out into the field. M Vijay is taking strike, it's his IPL debut.

And we are ready to go, this is Siddarth Ravindran bringng you the commentary, with Sanjay Murari doing the scoring.

16.30 As you wait for the game to start, take a look at some of our pieces in our new section 'Page 2'.

Facing Fidel Edwards is hard enough. Facing the ladies and gentlemen of the press must be the last thing captains need. Read Lawrence Booth's diary here.

Crap fielding, tardiness, the ability to get up Aussie noses... it can only be Sourav Ganguly. In The CV.

Raghav from the UK is happy Chennai have finally given M Vijay a game. "Finally! Chennai have made a sensible decision by dropping Parthiv Patel. I'm sure M Vijay will make much better impact than P Patel."

16.15 So, after yet another last-over thriller, the action moves to Johannesburg where two teams which were highly rated at thestart of the tournament take on each other, Delhi Daredevils and Chennai Super Kings.

Toss: Delhi have won the toss and decided to bowl.

The big news is that Virender Sehwag won't be playing because of an injury, he is expected to be fit for Delhi's next game though. The explosive David Warner is Sehwag's replacement while Rajat Bhatia also gets a look in. To accomodate Warner, Delhi have had to leave out Daniel Vettori. Gambhir is leading the team in Sehwag's absence.

Delhi: Gautam Gambhir, David Warner, AB de Villiers, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Dinesh Karthik, Mithun Manhas, Rajat Bhatia, Amit Mishra, Pradeep Sangwan, Ashish Nehra, Dirk Nannes

Chennai have made one change to their side, M Vijay taking the place of the out-of-sorts Parthiv Patel at the top of the order.

Chennai: Matthew Hayden, M Vijay, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni, Albie Morkel, Jacob Oram, S Badrinath, Sudeep Tyagi, S Jakati, L Balaji, Muttiah Muralitharan

Pitch It's expected to a great batting pitch, and the groundsman says he thinks 200 could be scored today. The track is hard and the bounce is expected to be true, which means Delhi's decision to field is a bit of a gamble.

With a cracker of a pitch, and both sides filled with destructive batsmen, a high-scoring contest is on the cards. Delhi won the last time the two sides met, thanks to AB de Villiers century, the only one of the tournament so far.

Nannes to Jakati, FOUR, another boundary for Jakati, that was a yorker just outside off, Jakati had backed away and he managed to slap that wide off the third man fielder for four

19.4

Nannes to Jakati, OUT, Nannes gets another one, familiar mode of dismissal for Chennai today, a huge swat gets a top edge which results in a simple catch to Gambhir at cover

SB Jakati c Gambhir b Nannes 13 (8b 2x4 0x6) SR: 162.50

19.5

Nannes to Muralitharan, no run, driven back past the bowler, towards mid-on, Murali decides against the single

19.6

Nannes to Muralitharan, 1 run, OUT, full just outside off, Murali drives inside-out along the ground, but it goes straight to AB de Villiers at mid-off, the batsmen decided to go for two anyway, de Villiers lobs the ball to the keeper and Murali is caught well out of his crease

M Muralitharan run out 3 (4b 0x4 0x6) SR: 75.00

So Chennai finish on 163, which they will be disappointed with, given what a good track it is to bat on, and the position they were in after 12 overs - 106 for 2 with both Badrinath and Raina going strong.

Chennai's big guns misfired today, but Delhi's consistent left-arm fast bowlers, Ashish Nehra and Dirk Nannes, were on the money yet again. Rajat Bhatia's amiable medium-pacers were surprisingly effective, getting rid of both Raina and Badrinath just as they switched to top gear.

Dhoni has criticized his bowlers' performances so far in the tournament, and they will need to turn in an improved show if they are to keep a formidable Delhi batting from overhauling this target.

The man to watch will be the highly rated Australian opener, David Warner, who gets his first game today.

End of over 20 (10 runs) Chennai Super Kings 163/10
     DP Nannes    4-0-27-3
S Tyagi    0* (0b)      A Nehra    4-0-27-3
