Indian Premier League - 32nd match

Deccan Chargers v Mumbai Indians

Deccan Chargers won by 19 runs

16.30 local Chal lets get this started already. Deccan's openers are set. Good deck for batting. Lasith Malinga has the ball. Gilchrist to face. Solid right-left pair. A wide slip in. Kumar Dharmasena says lets start!

16.15 local Right, team changes. Dhawal Kulkarni replaces Zaheer. Rohan Raje comes in for Ajinkya Rahane. Saurabh Tiwary replaces Shikhar Dhawan. No Pragyan Ojha for Deccan, replaced by Harmeet Singh. They also bring in D Ravi Reja for VVS Laxman. So plenty of changes both sides. Final XIs above.

In their first game this season, Deccan won when Mumbai lost their way following the strategy time-out of their chase of 169. Mumbai will want to avenge that. We are ten minutes away from the start.

Raghu isn't too impressed: "You gotta be kidding me. Ojha replaced by Harmeet? Did Gilly forget that Ojha was instrumental in their first encounter with Mumbai? Harmeet is so horrible with bowl. As for his fielding, the less we talk about it is better. Bad move by Gilly."

Raghu, Ojha has a twisted ankle. There is nothing Gilchrist or anyone can do about that.

16.00 local Lets head down to the middle. Sachin Tendulkar and his good friend Adam Gilchrist (True Colours: My Life, anyone?) are joined by Ramiz Raja and Lalit Modi and GR Viswanath for the toss. Heads is the call from Tendulkar and its a tail so Gilchrist says Deccan will bat.

The pitch looks good for batting. A good crowd has gathered and the weather is just fine. No word of the teams so stick around and we'll see what we can do about that.

15.30 local Hello everyone. Just the one game today thankfully and its between Deccan Chargers and Mumbai Indians. But its a big match, one sure to change the top four in the points table. If Deccan win, they will surge to the second spot. If Mumbai win, they will enter the top four, knocking off Deccan.

Three points separate seven teams at around the half-way stage so the IPL is pretty tense. Today's competitors are ones that started off so well they were talked of as title contenders, but have stumbled since.

Still a long time to go till tee-off but before that, you can all chat about the IPL with Cricinfo's deputy editor Ajay Shankar and stats editor S Rajesh here. Send your questions in to chatterbox@cricinfo.com.

Very tidy from Malinga, bar the wide and that cracker of a flick from Gilchrist.

One keeps it yorker length, the other fullish just outside off stump in search off swing. Good start.

3.1

Kulkarni to Suman, 2 runs, a big swing to one outside off stump, a real miscue but its up and over point and dropping safely in no mans land so Suman is off the mark with a couple

One slip in place ...

5.3

Bravo to Suman, OUT, got em! Suman backs away to try and hit the ball over cover but the ball was a touch too short for that shot and the extra bounce draws a thick outside edge to Shah

TL Suman c †Shah b Bravo 20 (13b 1x4 2x6) SR: 153.84

Bravo gets stuck in early. Decent cameo from Suman but he needed to do more. Here's Rohit.

5.5

Bravo to Sharma, no run, fuller in length, gets him forward but he mistimes the drive to cover

8.6

Bravo to Sharma, 1 run, shorter ball, Rohit gets up and checks the wrists, getting one to cover

Six balls before the mandatory tactical break.

9.1

Raje to Sharma, 1 run, short, wide, Rohit throws the bat at it and spoons it up and down to third man, but Jayasuriya does not pick it and is very slow to react ... it was a chance, but he didn't spot the ball and it dropped a few feet in front of him

9.2

Raje to Gilchrist, no run, attempted yorker outside off, jammed out to backward point

9.3

Raje to Gilchrist, 2 runs, full toss outside off which is hammered into the gap at midwicket, hard running gets him two, the sweeper returns it to his end but he's home safe, well run there

9.4

Raje to Gilchrist, OUT, bowled em! Raje holds his nerve and pitches it up on off stump, Gilchrist doesn't move his feet as he swings across the line and off stump is pegged back

AC Gilchrist b Raje 25 (29b 2x4 1x6) SR: 86.20

Now that is a massive blow just before the break. Gilchrist could have batted out the over and cashed in after the interval but he played a poor shot. A very scratchy innings. In comes Dwayne Smith.

9.5

Raje to Smith, no run, right on the dime and Smith thuds bat and pad together in defence

9.6

Raje to Smith, 1 run, swings at one outside off again and gets it just wide of midwicket

11.1

Raje to Sharma, 1 run, comes onto the front foot and drives the full ball down to long-off

11.2

Raje to Smith, SIX, massive! Smith just clears the front leg and tees off superbly, clubbing the slower ball from outside off stump and thats miles back over midwicket, really a great shot

11.3

Raje to Smith, 1 run, fuller and straight and bunted back in the air to Raje's right, he gets a hand but parries it away and the umpire did well to jump out of the ball's path

11.4

Raje to Sharma, 1 run, pitched up and thats well driven down the ground for one more

12.5

Jayasuriya to Sharma, 1 run, makes room to the sixth stump and pulls a shorter ball wide of midwicket

Jayasuriya to Smith, OUT, timber! Smith just sees the shorter length and backs away to pull it over midwicket but he does not connect at all and the ball thuds into middle stump

DR Smith b Jayasuriya 16 (12b 1x4 1x6) SR: 133.33

Reward for Jayasuriya, who varied his speed and length. Smith isn't a good player of spin.

Malinga to Venugopal Rao, 1 run, OUT, put that down to smart work from the wicketkeeper! Its another gem of a yorker on the stumps, swung away with an inside edge past midwicket, Rao runs the first hard and then dives as he comes back on the second, Shah has to extend the hand to his right after he collects and knocks the stumps over and after a couple replays its ruled that Rao is out because his bat was in the air even though it was over the line ... really well collected by Shah, it wasn't an accurate throw back from Bravo in the deep

Y Venugopal Rao run out 28 (17b 2x4 1x6) SR: 164.70

Here's Ryan Harris

19.2

Malinga to Harris, no run, another full one in the blockhole, Harris makes sure to get his toes out of the way as he clips the ball back down the track and Malinga stick out a hand to field

19.3

Malinga to Harris, 2 runs, just a bit astray on the yorker and Harris drives past mid-on for two

19.4

Malinga to Harris, 1 run, another good yorker on off stump, Harris makes room and just gets a bit of bat on ball, swinging it wide of midwicket, Tendulkar does the fielding

19.5

Malinga to Ravi Teja, 3 runs, shuffles across his stumps and clips the ball from off stump, uppishly wide of midwicket, Bravo again comes in the picture but returns a wild throw that gives away more

19.6

Malinga to Harris, 2 runs, good shot, uses his feet to meet the ball on the full, Harris bunts it down to long-on and with Teja sprints hard to get Deccan through to 145

Deccan didn't get the big start or the final fling. Wickets fell at regular junctures and Mumbai have set themselves 146 to chase. A par score you would have said a few evenings ago but then we've seen Bangalore chase a similar target down, and you have to also factor in that Deccan are without Edwards and Ojha. Join us in a few moments for Mumbai's response.

End of over 20 (9 runs) Deccan Chargers 145/6
RJ Harris    5* (4b)      SL Malinga    4-0-24-1
DB Ravi Teja    4* (4b)      DJ Bravo    3-0-16-1
