Indian Premier League, 14th match: Mumbai Indians v Royal Challengers Bangalore at Mumbai (BS), Mar 20, 2010
Royal Challengers Bangalore won by 7 wickets (with 5 balls remaining)
20 March 2010 - night match (20-over match)

7:57pm The crowd lets out a ROAR as Sachin and Sanath walk out to open. Privileged I'd say to witness these two masters batting together. And that too against Steyn, arguably the best seamer in the game. Praveen to bowl though, with two slips. Fasten your seatbelts fellas!

7:52pm Vikas: "Looks like Royal Challengers have an edge over Mumbai Indians in terms of strong batting line up...all depends on our old Sachin the great....should be an interesting match today" Well, Pollard and Bravo are yet to announce themselves, and if they do, it will be tough to pick the better batting line-up between these two. Morgan and Dravid have hardly had a hit for Bangalore.

7:42pm Still some time to the start. It's still early days, but Mumbai and Bangalore have been in really good form so far. Bangalore started off indifferently, with a defeat against Kolkata, but some smart changes to the batting line-up made the difference as they crushed Punjab in a big chase. And then they absolutely annihilated Rajasthan in a one-sided encounter. But their two wins were at home, and things will be different at the Brabourne. Mumbai held their nerve to outlast Yusuf Pathan in their first game and then Tendulkar showed that he is the king of all formats, with a sublime innings that brushed aside Delhi. Bangalore's bowlers are hitting good form now - Steyn, Vinay Kumar, Praveen and Kumble were ruthless against Rajasthan. Expect sparks to fly when Sachin and Sanath face up to them.

Toss: Tendulkar wins the toss and an unchanged Mumbai Indians will bat first. He is pleased to win the toss, while Kumble predicts dew later in the day and is happy to be batting second when the ball will come on to the bat. Kumble reckons 160-170 will be gettable. Bangalore is unchanged as well, these two teams are really well-settled.

It's Match 14 in IPL 2010, and it's the battle of the top two teams in the league leader-board. A warm welcome to Mumbai Indians v Royal Challengers Bangalore, from the Brabourne Stadium. Who will prevail today - will it be the magnificent Sachin Tendulkar or fellow legend, Anil Kumble? We'll know in three hours time!

I am Nitin Sundar, your commentator for the game, and the scoring will be shared between Gopi Rangarajan and Venkat Raghav.

Steyn to Jayasuriya, no run, good length on off stump, Sanath shoulders arms, that's a rarity

Steyn to Jayasuriya, 1 wide, working up some pace, up from 133 to 140 ks, but this one slides down the leg side

Steyn to Jayasuriya, no run, gets it right this time and swings it into Sanath at good pace. He gets forward and drives straight to mid off

Steyn to Jayasuriya, OUT, and he's nailed him this time! Similar ball, on a length from over the wicket and straightening after pitching on middle, catches Sanath on the hop. Umpire Kumar Dharmasena thinks for a moment and sends his long-time team-mate back. Big wicket!

Steyn to Tare, FOUR, squeezes it through the slips. Late on the shot and hence got a thick outside edge, it did not carry to Kallis and ran away

Steyn to Tendulkar, FOUR, and again! At 127 kph, Sachin will send these to the boundary all day. It's even further outside leg this time and the master has no problems. Three fours to square leg, and Steyn is having nighmares of Gwalior!

Kallis to Tare, no run, on the leg stump, but it's Tare this time, not Sachin and hence it does not go to the boundary. Instead goes straight to short midwicket

Kallis to Tare, FOUR, Tare tears into this one! Short and wide outside off and Tare swats it like a fly off the back foot. Runs away for four at great speed.

Kallis to Tare, OUT, Kallis has his man! The good old strategy of bouncing out young Indian batsmen pays off again. Kallis lets rip a very accurate bouncer, Tare is late into the shot and it pops up straight to short midwicket.

Kallis to Tiwary, no run, good slower ball, nicely driven off the front foot and some good fielding at cover ensures there's no run scored

Time out here. Bangalore have done well to rein Mumbai in so far, though Sachin and Tiwary seem to have warmed up well for some big shots.

Ashok Bhatia: "I think this lad Tiwary has a good head on his shoulders and will be a very good replacement of out of form Yuvraj in India's ODI squad." Well, he does seem to have what it takes.

Rahul: "I know Rayadu has been in great form and he opens the batting in Ranji. Why not send him in at #3 instead of Tare, who has a very 1996-pinch-hitter feel to him."

Kumar to Khan, no run

Kumar to Khan, 2 runs, slower ball this time, and Zaheer is ready for the length but not for the lack of pace, mis-times it to long on and Malinga scampers back for two.

Kumar to Khan, FOUR, Zaheer has finished off in style here! Praveen lost the plot somewhat, length ball again, and what's more, sliding down the leg. Zaheer picked it up, and hoicked it over short fine-legs head, a couple of bounces to the boundary.

Zaheer has done this before in international cricket, he can turn it on towards the end with these lovely cameos. 23 off 9 today, and he's taken Mumbai past 150. Bangalore controlled the innings for most part, after the partnership between Tendulkar and Tiwary, with Vinay Kumar striking three big blows in one over. Pollard helds things together for a while, but fell just as he was warming up to the task. But Zaheer Khan ensured that there was a strong finish, and it might just be the fillip Mumbai's strong bowling attack needs before they come back to defend 151.

Right then, Sriram Veera will take on commentary duties for the second innings.

End of over 20 (16 runs) Mumbai Indians 151/9
