Indian Premier League - 48th match

Chennai Super Kings v Kolkata Knight Riders

Chennai Super Kings won by 9 wickets (with 39 balls remaining)

7:58pm Ashwin and Dhoni discussing field placements. Spin to start the proceedings. Ganguly and Gayle stride out to the centre. This should be fun!

7:57pm Gopi: "CSK has 1:1 win loss Jinx against each team except Deccan in IPL Season 3. They need to break this Jinx with KKR, because they are @ 1:0 against KKR, with DD too" Goes to show how unpredictable this format is.

Kolkata have won the toss and opted to bat. Ganguly thinks the track will take turn. Michael Hussey and Thilan Thushara have been left out, Muralitharan and Albie Morkel are back. Aniruddha Srikkanth has been included as well. Thushara, Tyagi and Michael Hussey are out.

While elder brother Michael misses out for Chennai, David, the younger of the Hussey siblings has been included for Kolkata. Mendis, Ishant Sharma and Pujara go out. Laxmi Ratan Shukla and Iqbal Abdullah come in.

It is match 48 of the IPL, and it is a round of Russian Roulette at Chepauk, between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. The team that loses today will find itself very close to elimination. Kolkata are the only team that is yet to make the semifinals in the IPL's history while Chennai don't know what it is like to not be in the semis. Winning today is crucial for both sides. Who will be the last man standing after this shoot-out - MS Dhoni or Sourav Ganguly? I can't wait to find out! Toss in five minutes.

I am Nitin Sundar, your commentator for the game, and Gopi Rangarajan is on scoring.

2.6

Ashwin to McCullum, OUT, Ashwin is on fire! McCullum's not read him well this over, and was desperate to get him away. Bollinger to Ganguly, no run, take that! Bolly resorts to Dada's old weakness, the short ball and it is directed perfectly as the KKR skipper fends uncertainly

3.2

Bollinger to Ganguly, OUT, Chennai are all over Kolkata here! Bollinger had set this up the previous ball with the bouncer, this time he slips in the pacy full delivery aimed at Dada's pads. It strikes him flush, but outside leg stump. Umpire Hazare thinks it is out, and Chepauk does not mind, but that was a poor call.
