Indian Premier League, 2nd Semi-Final: Chennai Super Kings v Deccan Chargers at Mumbai, Apr 22, 2010
Indian Premier League - 2nd semi final
Chennai Super Kings won by 38 runs
22 April 2010 - night match (20-over match)

8.00pm Matthew Hayden and M Vijay stride out, Deccan fielders take their places. Andrew Symonds has been given the new ball.

It's a much smaller crowd than the one which turned up yesterday, the lack of a home side and the hastily shifted match accounting for that.

7.50pm Easwar from the US has some words of advice: "The pitch should spin considering how it has performed in the previous games, KP spun the ball a lot, I would except murali and ashwin to do well. But beware the wide on the leg side due to too much spin."

Giri Subramanian replies to Ram: "Dhoni had no choice actually as his best bowlers have been the spinners. Tyagi, Gony and Balaji have been poor and Kemp hasn't done anything great. So actually this was kind of expected."

Sanjeev: "It make sense for Deccan to go all pace attack because they have two good part timer, Rohit and Symmonds. Same two guy gives them batting advantage as well in middle order."

7.45pm Ram from Canada: "It's interesting team composition for both sides. Chennai has gone for all spin vs Deccan has gone for pace attack. It's good Chennai won the toss, hopefully the pitch will spin in second half otherwise, Deccan will cruise through!! big match-big gamble from Dhoni."

As usual, there are plenty of complaints over the team composition. Liam from UK makes the case for Vaas: "Literally cannot believe Deccan aren't playing Vaas - 5th in the bowling averages in IPL 2010, economy of just over 6, bags of experience. Why is he not playing?"

Where's Kemp, asks Nikhil Kurain: "Looking at the impact KP had on yesterday's match, wonder if the exclusion of a certain Justin Kemp will be regretted."

7.30pm MS Dhoni wins the toss, Chennai choose to bat. "We had a good practice session in Chennai, it is a pressure game, it is important for the senior players to keep it simple to show the way for the juniors."

Two changes for Chennai: Murali in for Kemp, Anirudha in for Tyagi. So that's a spin-heavy Chennai attack.

Deccan have made three changes, bringing back Herschelle Gibbs, Ryan Harris and RP Singh. Mitchell Marsh, Chaminda Vaas and Rahul Sharma are the ones to miss out.

7.20pm We are ten minutes away from the toss of the second semi-final between Chennai and Deccan, the winner of which will go on to face Mumbai Indians on Sunday.

Do you think Hayden should be retained despite being offcolour for much of the tournament? And Murali left on the bench? For Deccan, should they pick Vaas or Harris or both?

Harris to Ashwin, 1 bye, a bouncer outside off, Ashwin can't get bat on it, they sneak a bye though

Deccan will be thrilled with their effort, restricting a strong Chennai to what should be a gettable target. There is some extra bounce in the wicket but Ojha wasn't getting too much turn, not a good sign for a spin-heavy Chennai attack. One thing they might take heart from is that Deccan have lost both run chases at this ground so far, v Kolkata (161) and Mumbai (172).
