Bangladeshis 107 for 3 (Mushfiqur 40) beat Ireland XI 103 for 6 (Mortaza 3-14) by seven wickets
Scorecard

Mashrafe Mortaza's early blitz saw Bangladesh comfortably win the opening game of their tour of Ireland. They defeated an Ireland XI by seven wickets at Comber, chasing down 103 with more than five overs to spare.

Mortaza took 3 for 14, with the wickets of Andrew Balbirnie and Andrew Poynter coming in the first over, and Ireland were 10 for 3 as Mortaza took his third wicket. The Ireland XI never recovered from such a terrible start. Andrew White, the Ireland XI captain, managed to stay at the crease for 25 balls, making 16, but he and Stuart Thompson went quickly as the side slumped to 58 for 6 with fewer than five overs remaining.

Nigel Jones managed to save Irish blushes by striking three sixes in a 26-ball 41 as he and Rory McCann shared 45 but the total was well below being competitive.

Thompson did find two early wickets but Shakib Al Hasan's unbeaten 37 at a run-a-ball guided the chase and Bangladesh captain Mushifiqur Rahim blasted 40 in 25 balls to get the tourists to the line.

@Tokai69 - check the T20 rankings! Bangladesh currently have no rankings, YET sides like Ireland & Afghanistan do! There are 15 teams with a ranking Bangladesh is NOT one of them! Bangladesh don't have a ranking because they haven't played enuff games, the problem for Bangladesh is, when they do play T20s, it is usually against harder sides than what Ireland usually face.

@ Meety "which means they are BELOW 15th." - where you get that idea dude !

what's up all these pointless arguments? Bangladesh is too good for Ireland.

Sud have won it by 10 wickets wid this A team!!! anywayz best of luck for remaining games

@Sunny Jahangir - the reality is that Ireland are the higher ranked side (currently 9th), & Bangladesh have no ranking - which means they are BELOW 15th. So in some ways they will have done well to beat a side ranked at least 6 places above them, away from home!

Good win for BD.. Nice warmup.. Some guys mistook the game.. Its a tour game and not the primary Ireland team.. Certainly the Irish guys will give them a run for money with full team though BD will be the favorites..

Nothing to be satisfied yet. Lets hope for the best in upcoming series.

Ireland has a few good players. Rankin, porterfield, joyce, dockrell, obrain. These are goods. So dont lose, be tight. On their day ireland can beat us.

@Ahmed Hussain. It does mean something. It means they r playing well and have a good attitude. Trust me, the writing was on the wall when they lost their warm ups in Zim. Remember no one practices to lose so its good that they won these warm ups. I hope Ire's full squad does well also.

@ sunny..i actually think beating ireland would be quite an accomplishment...coz i remember they gave pakistan a run for their money in of the odis...plus..the irish players are quite good..so if they complete a clean sweep...it'll definitely prove that asia cup..although an odi tournament...was not a fluke..

lets hope that the pitch will be the same inshallah.

Its a sticky situation for Bangladesh.. if they win against Ireland, they wont get any credits but if they lose, suddenly they will become another round of attacks and the typical 'Bangladesh should be stripped out of Test Cricket' type comments.. However, this series is good for both teams to get even on each other.. Ireland lost badly in Bangladesh last time and this is Ireland's chance to again claim their stake that they are better than Bangladesh in limited over formats!! For Bangladesh, they just have to win the series to get into the T20 ratings and prove that they do deserve to be amongst the Full Member squad!!

Its good that our players are preparing very well especially in this awful wet summer but hopefully we will finally have good sun-shining Cricket in the next few days and our players get the task done. Note this is just practice matches guys and Bangladesh winning both of them comfortably does not prove anything.

Keep this consistancy up, guys !

masrafe is one best player in Bangladesh.he is better than sakib. For long time injury damaged her career. Form my eyes i saw 100% effort player in Bangladesh.we are very proud to get a player like masrafe bin mortaza kowsik. He is the real hero.

Tiger should win all the three T20s as convincingly as this. Ireland is absolutely no match for them .
