Kaif leads strong India A team
A strong India A side full of international experience take on Kenya for two three-day games, the first of which gets underway on August 5, and will be joined on the tour by Sri Lanka A for a triangular one-day series later in the month.
Led by Mohammad Kaif, India feature seven players who have represented India, including Parthiv Patel (vice-captain), Irfan Pathan, Robin Uthappa, VRV Singh, Piyush Chawla and Rohit Sharma.
Kenya's exposure to one-day cricket continues to increase, as does their skill level in the shorter format, but they are less adept at three-day cricket. The Indians will provide a stiff challenge to Steve Tikolo's team, who include two new names: Alex Obanda, the highly rated 19-year-old batsman, and Elijah Otieno, the young medium-pacer.
After the three-dayers are completed both teams move on to Nairobi where they will be joined by Sri Lanka A to play in a tri-nation ODI series, at Nairobi Gymkhana, between August 14 and 22. Although the Sri Lankans do not have the international experience of the Indians, they too have seven players who have played for Sri Lanka and will be led by Thilan Samaraweera.
