Cricinfo has learned that the four-team elite national league proposed by Cricket Kenya will go ahead despite the disruption caused by reaction to December's disputed presidential elections.
The league already has a sponsor - Sahara Computers - and is also being funded by the African Cricket Association. Kenya's provinces and clubs have been contacted by the board and asked to put forward names of players who they think warrant selection for the elite competition. The benchmark is that they should be deemed good enough to play for the full, the A or the Under-19 sides as well as being fit enough.
The hope is that the competitions, which will consist of three-day, one-day and Twenty20 games, will take place before the end of March.
