Matthew Keech was a middle-order batsman who struggled to win a place at Middlesex, and initially also found the going hard when he moved to Hampshire. But in 1996 he found his touch, scoring his maiden hundred and finishing the summer with 793 runs at 44.05, maintaining that form in 1997. He fell away in 1998 and 1999 and he was released at the end of the season. He subsequently played Minor Counties cricket for Dorset.
