Maurice Manasseh was a middle-order batsman and a useful bowler as either a seamer or offspinner. In his last year at Epsom he scored six hundreds, including four in succession, and impressed so much in the season-end schools' festival at Lord's that Middlesex picked him for their 2nd XI. Unsurprisingly, he was in the Oxford side from the off but bizarrely missed out on a Blue in 1962 despite being the leading wicket-taker as well as scoring three fifties. He again failed to win a Blue in 1963, once more despite having played almost all the summer in the side, but was finally rewarded in 1964 when he scored 129* a fortnight before the Varsity match and capped that with 45 and 100* in the game itself. He played a few matches for Middlesex over the next three or four years without recapturing that form. He represented Middlesex's 2nd XI between 1960 and 1968.
