Tony Pearson was an opening medium-pace bowler who played for Cambridge for three seasons between 1961 and 1963, and also made six appearances for Somerset. He was effective for the university, taking 112 wickets at 30.45 (his 26 wickets for Somerset only cost 19.50).

In 1961 he joined an exclusive club when he took all ten wickets in an innings against Leicestershire at Loughborough, the last university cricketer to do so. He finished with 10 for 78, including 9 for 39 from 19.3 overs on the last day. That summer he took 62 wickets at 26.16, and in 1962, 50 at 31.74. In his three Varsity match appearances he was surprisingly ineffective.
