Paul Roberts, who played for Lincolnshire and in one match for Worcestershire in 1974, was killed by a 200 ft fall while climbing Raven Crag, Borrowdale, on June 9. A companion also died. Roberts, who was 25 at the time of his death, was a right-hand batsman and medium-pace bowler. He held a teaching appointment in Kidderminster.
