Wicketkeeper

Nigel Ross was a right-handed batsman and wicketkeeper who represented Middlesex in 25 first-class matches between 1973 and 1977. He was never likely to usurp John Murray and so played his first few games as a specialist batsman, with little success. When Murray retired at the end of 1974, Ross was initially installed as his replacement, but he failed to cement his place and was replaced by Ian Gould. He played a couple of games later in that Championship-winning season, again as a specialist bat, and again in 1977 but was released at the end of that season.
