A slow right-arm bowler, Sivert Samuelson played one Test for South Africa, against England at Cape Town in 1910-11 where he went wicketless. The following season he was devastating for Natal in the Currie Cup with 13-wicket hauls against Griqualand West and Orange Free State, ending the summer with 41 wickets at 13.87.
