Kenneth Owen Hunter, a well-known figure in Old Wykehamist cricket circles, died at his London home on March 25 at the age of 78. He was born on July 7, 1881, and during his two years in the Winchester XI (1899-1900) he took 82 wickets, his 47 wickets in the former year putting him at the head of the averages. On going up to New College, Oxford, he played in the trial matches of 1901, and though he did not gain a place in the University side, he gained the rare distinction of a Harlequin cap for cricket and a trial cap for rowing. For more than 20 years he was secretary of the Old Wykehamist Cricket Club and appeared in one of their fixtures at the age of 65. His two brothers, R. C. and H. M. Hunter, also played for Winchester.
