Profile

Arthur Grimsdell, though more celebrated as a footballer, served Hertfordshire as an amateur wicket-keeper and batsman from 1922 to 1947. In Minor Counties' cricket he hit 3,458 runs, average 19.00, for Hertfordshire, his highest innings being 107 in 1934. He played Association football for St. Albans City before becoming professional with Watford, his native town. From there he joined Tottenham Hotspur, for whom he played as left half-back from 1912 to 1929. He gained an FA Cup-winners' medal in 1921 and played in six full and two Victory international matches for England.
