Wisden obituary
George Sutton Watson, who died on April 1, aged 64, was two years in the Shrewsbury XI and played a few times for Kent as an amateur in 1928 and 1929. From 1935 to 1950 he played as a professional for Leicestershire, for whom he scored over 8000 runs. He was an attacking bat and a glorious field, usually in the deep or at cover: even before the days of artificially shortened boundaries he could return the ball full toss to the wicket from the boundary with either hand. After his retirement he was for a time pro at Cranleigh. As a soccer player he gained two amateur caps for England and later played for Charlton Athletic as a pro
