Harold Long played on and off for Eastern Province through the 1950s as a lower middle-order batsman and occasional offspinner. His only hundred came when he made 108 batting at No. 9 in 1954-55, but otherwise he was solid rather than spectacular. His only real success with the ball came when he took 5 for 32 against Griqualand West in 1954-55 - he did not take more than two wickets in an innings apart from this.
