Pakistan in New Zealand ODI Series - 1st ODI

New Zealand v Pakistan

New Zealand won by 9 wickets (with 196 balls remaining)

8.1

Oram to Younis Khan, no run, and begins with a gentle away swinger at 129 kph that forces the drive out of Younis. He misses though

8.2

Oram to Younis Khan, 1 run, back of a length this time, a foot outside off, Younis opens the face and steers square for one

8.3

Oram to Asad Shafiq, 1 wide, this time he starts the movement from too far outside off and it is called a wide

8.3

Oram to Asad Shafiq, no run, short of a length and good bounce outside off, Asad lets it go after reaching across

8.4

Oram to Asad Shafiq, no run, pushes Asad back with a back of length delivery with decent lift. Defended compactly off the back foot towards the covers

8.5

Oram to Asad Shafiq, no run, and a spiffing legcutter now from Oran. Seam bolt upright, landed with purpose back of a length outside off and then it moves away with disconcerting bounce. Shafiq did well not to edge that

8.6

Oram to Asad Shafiq, no run, another one. It moved away lesser, making it more likely to take a wicket, but Asad played inside the line and did not get the edge. Oram has hit the ground running here.

Pakistan 28/2   JDP Oram 1-0-2-0

10.1

Oram to Younis Khan, no run, Oram darts one away from wide of off stump, Younis reaches across and leaves

10.2

Oram to Younis Khan, 1 run, this one holds its line, and Younis is alert to the variation as he gets across and defends to the off side. They take a quick single

10.3

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, Misbah stays firmly in the back foot - good idea too, will help him pick the movement off the pitch. Defends a length ball to the off side

10.4

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, first hint of uneven bounce outside off, Misbah gets back and across for the cut, but misses

10.5

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, another one on the perfect length from Oram, it holds its line again and is defended solidly to the off side

10.6

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, slightly fuller, Misbah stays on the crease and defends with the full face to the leg side

Pakistan 30/3   JDP Oram 2-0-3-0

12.1

Oram to Younis Khan, no run, movement and spongy bounce, both causing problems here. This one was back of a length outside off and Younis went for the cut, but it just did not come on. Inside edged into the body

12.2

Oram to Younis Khan, no run, fuller outside off, played with the full face towards mid off

12.3

Oram to Younis Khan, 1 wide, slips down the leg side for another wide

12.3

Oram to Younis Khan, 1 run, another offcutter of sorts from Oram, at 128 kph, Younis inside edge the cut to the right of the pitch and they hare across for a quick single. Oram runs across and kicks the ball at the stumps, but misses. Misbah was not dragging his bat in. Hmm.

12.4

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, back of a length outside off and defended to the off side

12.5

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, pushes off the back foot to midwicket, can't find the gap

12.6

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, 2 runs, and Misbah is finally away, steering a cut past point for a couple

Pakistan 36/3   JDP Oram 3-0-7-0

14.1

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, Oram slants one in from wide of the crease and Misbah somehow gets it away off the inside half for a single to the leg side

14.2

Oram to Younis Khan, 1 wide, slips down the leg side and concedes a wide

14.2

Oram to Younis Khan, 1 leg bye, slow offcutter at 127 kph and a huge appeal for lbw from Oram. Younis was decieved by the change of pace, he was well forward and into the shot by the time the ball came on and struck him on the pad. Might have been sliding down the leg. Debatable call, ruled in the batsman's favour. Replays suggest it was going high, so good decision.

14.3

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run

14.4

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 wide, Oram bounced that closer to Younis at the non-striker's end that Misbah. Very short, called wide for height.

14.4

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, pushes Misbah back in the crease with one back of a length and it is forced to the off side

14.5

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, beats the outside edge again, we have seen this so many times this morning. Misbah plants the front foot and then feels for one that moves away like it has a charm put on it.

14.6

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, fuller this time and Misbah launches an expansive cover drive for one to the sweeper. The players will break for drinks

Pakistan 43/3   JDP Oram 4-0-11-0

16.1

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, good length on off stump and hinting at shaping away from Misbah who adjusts for the movement and defends

16.2

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, looks for the off drive to a full ball on off stump, but mistimes to mid off

16.3

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, slants this one into the pads and Misbah works it through midwicket for one

16.4

Oram to Younis Khan, 1 run, smart work from Younis, back of a length on off stump, he drops it softly to the leg side and takes a single

16.5

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, dream delivery from Oram, the deceptively gentle away swinger. Misbah nearly falls for its charms, hanging the bat out there in a trance as it nips away. Close to the edge that one.

16.6

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, Oram does a Southee. Follows up the outswing with an offcutter. Misbah nearly does a Shafiq, he was late to bring the bat down on that and got an inside edge, just past leg stump

Pakistan 47/3   JDP Oram 5-0-14-0

18.1

Oram to Younis Khan, no run, bangs it in, more of that balloonish, indifferent bounce. It is left alone.

18.2

Oram to Younis Khan, 1 run, back of a length outside off, gently dabbed towards wide mid off for a single. That's what Pakistan want.

18.3

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, short ball outside off, Misbah rides the bounce and plays with opened face towards point

18.4

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, this one angles into him and Misbah looks to work it to the leg side, but can't get it off the square

18.5

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, Misbah walks across to off stump and works a length ball towards square leg for another single

18.6

Oram to Younis Khan, 1 run, hmm, Oram moves the 19-overs-old ball away off the seam and Younis steers it uppishly through a now vacant gully region for one

Pakistan 55/3   JDP Oram 6-0-17-0

29.1

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, back of a length outside off and Misbah steers from close to his body towards point

29.2

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, plays with an angled face this time and gets a single towards third man

29.3

Oram to Abdul Razzaq, FOUR, I think that's just the second convicing boundary of the day, since Kamran's drive in the opening over. Lovely hands from Razzaq, generates bat speed out of nowhere to a length ball close to the off stump. He just opened the wrists and eased it square for four

29.4

Oram to Abdul Razzaq, no run, better line this time, on the stumps and defended to the leg side

29.5

Oram to Abdul Razzaq, OUT, Brendon McCullum continues to do well in this extended catching practice session. Razzaq this time, gets half forward, and hangs an angled bat miles away from his body. It takes the edge, loops away to McCullum's right and he pounces on it with glee. Pakistan continue to collapse...

Abdul Razzaq c †BB McCullum b Oram 6 (8m 9b 1x4 0x6) SR: 66.66

29.6

Oram to Abdur Rehman, OUT, on a hat-trick for the second time in the day. This time Oram. And McCullum. Another bit of catching practice, this time to McCullum's left. Abdul Rehman gets a better delivery than Razzaq did - he had to play at it as it angled across close to his body. Thicker edge that before, this one makes McCullum dive across and he takes it nearly in front of the first slip. McCullum completes a five-for.

Abdur Rehman c †BB McCullum b Oram 0 (1m 1b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

Pakistan 96/8   JDP Oram 7-0-22-2

32.1

Oram to Sohail Tanvir, no run, full ball on middle and off, Tanvir keeps it out with obdurate defence. No hat-trick this time either

32.2

Oram to Sohail Tanvir, 1 run, this one angles across Tanvir outside off and he steers it carefully behind point for one. 100 up for Pakistan. Some solace.

32.3

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, Oram gets one to move in off the seam, and Misbah just about covers the deviation with bat and pad after getting half forward

32.4

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, Misbah works it through midwicket from off stump line and gets a single.

32.5

Oram to Sohail Tanvir, no run, short ball angling across Tanvir again, he stays back and guides it into the covers

32.6

Oram to Sohail Tanvir, no run, comes into Tanvir from round the wicket and he defend it to the leg side off the back foot

Pakistan 101/8   JDP Oram 8-0-24-2

34.1

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, full toss on the pads, Misbah slaps towards deep midwicket and now refuses the single

34.2

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, yorker on middle and leg at 129 kph, Misbah drives down the ground. Another single refused.

34.3

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, Misbah backs away to the leg side, Oram sees him and delivers it nice and wide outside off. Dot ballo

34.4

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, Misbah looks to slog another full delivery, from leg stump through midwicket and misses.

34.5

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, SIX, lovely connection. Finally Misbah sends one out of the ground. Oram delivers an off cutter outside off. Misbah goes down on a knee, reminscent of circa 2007 World T20, and slams it over deep midwicket into the stands.

34.6

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, Oram ends the over sensibly with a full ball that it worked towards mid on for one. Misbah keeps strike

Pakistan 113/9   JDP Oram 9-0-31-2

36.1

Oram to Shoaib Akhtar, 1 run, and he's away now too. Stays in the crease and blocks Oram into the covers for one

36.2

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, Misbah continues to go for a stroll around his crease, Oram follows him with a yorker on leg stump. Hits the pads, but safe.

36.3

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, looks to hustle one past the midwicket boundary, makes very good connection but he finds the man at deep midwicket. There is a deep square leg as well. They know this is Misbah's hitting area.

36.4

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, another heave across the line, again straight to the deep midwicket fielder. Another single refused. On 49.

36.5

Oram to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, Misbah has got an important 50 here - may not be important for this game, but with the World Cup coming up this will spark a huge captaincy debate. He has been as calm and assured as Afridi hasn't. Works a full ball past wide mid on for a single

36.6

Oram to Shoaib Akhtar, no run, Shoaib keeps the last ball out, a full toss on off stump defended into the covers

Pakistan 124/9   JDP Oram 10-0-33-2
