Pakistan in New Zealand ODI Series - 3rd ODI

New Zealand v Pakistan

Pakistan won by 43 runs

Hi there. Welcome to the third ODI between New Zealand and Pakistan.

Toss: New Zealand has chosen to bowl.

Taylor: "There should be bit in it early on. The colour of the outfield looked the same as the pitch when I walked in this morning. It has changed now in the last couple of hours but there will be something in it. It looks dry."

Afridi: "It will be slow and it will help the spinners as well. I think it will be good for batting as well. This is a subcontinental track. The wind is the difference and it will help the fast bowlers. Our strength is to play positive; the batsmen did that in the second ODI."

We should have a prompt start. Clear skies as of now. See you in a short while

Jamie How: "I am excited. It's going to be a big day. I am obviously disappointed with the Indian tour but am quite confident. I have been in form in domestic cricket; looking to take it to the international cricket. I would like to give the guys a good start; give support to Guptill and try to bat through. The guys are keen to go."

Southee to Kamran Akmal, OUT, Dragged on! It landed short of length outside off stump and moved back in a bit. Nothing alarming, just a little bit. He seemed to have pushed at it early, and the bat came down in an angle, and got a fatal inside edge. The leg stump is pegged back. He wasn't in great position to play that shot.

45.5

Oram to Shahid Afridi, 1 no ball, Nasty beamer! Oram apologises. The ball must have slipped out of the hand. It was the full toss around the right shoulder, Afridi was looking to swing it to the on side and is hit on the right shoulder. He is in pain. He gets up to see Oram next to him and Afridi wraps his arms around Oram to sort of say, it's all right mate.

45.5

Oram to Shahid Afridi, FOUR, Whackity whack! He moves outside leg and slices this over the off-side field. To the cover boundary. What a run fest these last few overs have been.

47.5

Bennett to Shahid Afridi, 1 run, fuller, straighter driven to long-on. 50 from 19 deliveries. Equals the quickest fifty in New Zealand. Brendon's record. Insane fun!

47.6

Bennett to Umar Akmal, OUT, shuffles across to outside off and tries to paddle it but misses. The off stump is pegged back. Good hand from Umar, though. Pakistan look so good when the top order gives them a solid base and the dangerous men lurking in the lower order are given a free licence to hit. That's how they played in 80's. And they continue to do it in some style even now

Umar Akmal b Bennett 44 (51m 29b 4x4 2x6) SR: 151.72

Start slow. Build a base. Then explode. The Pakistan way. Hafeez built the innings, Misbah steadied it, and Afridi, along with Umar, turned on the heat in the end. Pakistan end up on a strong 293. Join me, Sriram veera, in a while for the chase.
