West Indies in New Zealand Test Series - 2nd Test

New Zealand v West Indies

New Zealand won by an innings and 73 runs

Overs 1-50  | Overs 51-100  | Overs 101-150

10.30am All set for the start here, the players have walked out and Tino Best has the new ball, as usual, and will start with three slips. Hamish Rutherford and Peter Fulton in the middle. Here we go...

Another Andrew, this one from ESPNcricinfo, has spent a lot of time at the ground and said yesterday this match is likely to be an absorbing encounter thanks to the spicy pitch.

Andrew: "@Gareth: I though Sodhi was excellent in Dunedin. He is young, and struggled to bowl long spells, but he often looked really good. It has been a long time since we have had a match-winning spinner, and the more experience he gets now, the better."

Ben: "I'm glad there is no Bracewell in there, he hasn't been bowling that well in the domestic games he has played for CD. Lets go Blackcaps, bring it home this time!"

New Zealand have not won a Test at the Basin Reserve in their last seven attempts since thrashing Bangladesh in 2008. In 2006 they beat West Indies by 10 wickets.

The rain saved West Indies on the last day of the first Test, but they looked in much better form than in India last month. What else to expect over the next five days? Here's the preview.

Susheel Athmakuri: "A trio of Ravi, Roach and Best could have been a match winning combination on this kind of pitch... unfortunately, no Ravi / Roach and Gabriel is undercooked!"

Gareth: "I'm surprised NZ aren't playing a fourth seemer. With KW back with his part time offies, a green pitch, and Sodhi not really impressing that much, they could have gone with a full pace battery and brought in Bracewell." McCullum seemed pretty impressed with Sodhi, though.

Toss West Indies have won the toss and will bowl first.

Darren Sammy: Hopefully our bowlers could get it right at the start, it's another opportunity for them. Our bowlers didn't put the ball in the right areas in the last match and we learnt from the way the NZ bowlers bowled to us. Hopefully we will get it right this time. We contemplated on playing Sunil Narine but looking at the pitch, I don't think it will be fair to change the combination. No changes in the team.

Brendon McCullum: We would have bowled first too. Only one change: Kane Williamson comes in for Aaron Redmond. Ish Sodhi continues, he has the ability to turn the ball later on and the wind should help him get some drift. Hopefully we can put up a competitive score in the first innings to help the bowlers.

Sam San: "Preparing for another New Zealand Vs Darren Bravo match as no other WI Batsman is playing as good as him..not Chandarpaul either starting from the Indian tour....I am wishing for a good match and praying to Rain God to hold this time if NZ is in winning position and to shower if NZ is in problem…."

9.55am Hello and welcome to our coverage of the second Test between New Zealand and West Indies, this one in Wellington. Andrew McGlashan at the ground says it is overcast and a bit breezy, but all set for a start. The pitch looks nice and green.

0.1

Best to Fulton, no run, oh he's gone, the umpire's given him lbw but Fulton asks for a review. Best pitched it up around off, it came in after pitching and hit Fulton right in front of middle stump so up went the finger but replays confirm - with the help of Snicko - that there was an inside edge

0.2

Best to Fulton, 3 runs, pitched up again, on leg this time and Fulton flicks it off the pads for an easy three runs

0.3

Best to Rutherford, no run, back of length outside off and moving away, Rutherford leaves it

Says McGlashan from the ground: Best was bowling more against the wind than with, but it's blowing across the ground rather than end-to-end. And not strong by Wellington standards
