Scott Styris has been declared fit for the Champions Trophy that starts in India in October after recovering from a back injury that forced him to return early from his stint at Middlesex during the 2006 county season.
Styris is currently participating in a camp at Christchurch and John Bracewell, the New Zealand coach, said that he would be fit to bowl in the tournament as well. Bracewell said that Styris had been eased into preparations and increased the work load to build up strength.
New Zealand's preparation for the Champions Trophy has been limited. Their last one-day international was back on March 4, and only a handful of their players have been involved in the English country season. New Zealand's first game is against South Africa in Mumbai on October 16.
