Ajinkya Rahane and Tanmay Srivastava slammed centuries to help India Under-19 overcome a massive first-innings deficit and set New Zealand Under-19 a daunting target of 391. New Zealand batted out the final day and reached 231 for 6 to draw the third youth Test.

India were shot out for 124 in the first innings with Timothy Southee picking up 4 for 48. Andrew de Boorder scored 109 in New Zealand's strong reply and helped gain a lead of 176. India finished the second day on 76 for no loss, with still a lot of ground to make up.

On the third day India fought back, and how. They hammered 455 runs for the loss of five wickets led by outstanding centuries from Rahane and Srivastava. India lost Dharaka Ravi Teja early on the third day with the score on 89 after which Rahane and Srivastava dug deep and forged ahead. They added 291 for the second wicket and by the time the partnership was broken, India led by 204. Virat Kohli chipped in with 54 and contributions from the lower-middle order helped India declare on 566 for 7.

Jeet Raval followed his first-innings fifty with 89 in the second. He led New Zealand to the safety of 123 for 2 before they lost wickets at regular intervals and slipped to 206 for 6. Michael Taiaroa and Greg Morgan remained unbeaten when stumps were called for the final time.
