India U-19 romp to nine-wicket win

Cricinfo staff

Powered by Yo Mahesh's four-wicket burst, India Under -19s crushed the hosts by nine wickets at Lincoln to lead the five-match series 1 - 0.

Mahesh and Abu Nachim Ahmed prised out the openers cheaply as New Zealand Under-19s were left tottering at 2 for 2, a position they never recovered from. Mahesh went on to harass the middle order while each of the other bowlers picked up a wicket as New Zealand were shot out for a paltry 103. AP Boorder, the captain who starred in the Test series, was the highest scorer with 29 but no one else crossed 16 as India established a firm stranglehold.

Indians knocked off the target in 13.5 overs as D B Ravi Teja raced away to an unbeaten 44-ball 52.
