Matt Taylor, brother of Jack also at Gloucestershire, has developed through the academy at Bristol to make a handful of first-team appearances. In 2011, he played two List A matches at the Cheltenham Festival while still at school. He is being billed as the new Mike Smith in Bristol.
Taylor made his first-class debut against Leicestershire at the end of the 2013 season and during 2014 he was given more opportunities in the Championship, playing nine games and taking 21 wickets at 43.09.
