Ernest Beldam was an amateur batsman who played for Middlesex between 1903 and 1907. He made his debut opening for London County with WG Grace - he made 62 to Grace's 10 - and followed with 80 and 71 for G Jessop's XI against Scotland. On the strength of those innings he played seven matches later in the summer for Middlesex as they won the Championship - his contribution was limited. In 1904 he enjoyed his best season - 438 runs at 29.20, including his only hundred against Somerset. He also played for the Gentlemen against the Players that year along with his cousin, George Beldam. In 1901, aided by other members of his family, he founded Hounslow Hockey Club and he also played for Middlesex. He was chairman of Beldam Lascar Seals, a family firm based in Hounslow, from 1903 until his death.
