The first day of the first test here in Wellington has seen the momentum shift every session. The solid first session from the Australian batsmen was matched by some very disciplined bowling from New Zealand. This good work was then undone by some indifferent bowling and some tremendous batting especially from Michael Clarke who made a satisfying century in what has been a testing week for him personally. This is Simon Allen on behalf of Cricinfo signing off for day 1, we look forward to you joining us tomorrow for day 2 at 11am local time, that is 22:00 GMT.

DzUber: "What the hell Thejas? Why would that comment be published? Is there no filtering? Imagine world cricket where all players are equally excellent. Then wake up from your nightmare and embrace the variety, and ever changing face of the game we love... I'm frustrated at your comment and feel very sorry for the readers."
