Australia tour of New Zealand, 1st ODI: New Zealand v Australia at Napier, Mar 3, 2010
New Zealand won by 2 wickets (with 4 balls remaining)
3 March 2010 - day/night match (50-over match)

Hello and welcome to Napier for the first ODI of the Chappell-Hadlee series between Australia and New Zealand.

Ricky Ponting called heads correctly and Australia will bat first. He is rapt to be back into the set up after not playing in the T20I series and brings with him seven changes from the T20I campaign.

Daniel Vettori suffered an injury at training yesterday and he has not pulled up as well as first thought this morning so will not play. That means Ross Taylor will take over the reigns for the first time, and fittinging, in his home province of Central Districts.

In team news, New Zealand replace Vettori with Styris, who will bat number seven, with Neil Broom at six and Jacob Oram at eight, New Zealand have real depth in their batting.

Australia will run with Haddin, Watson, Ponting, Clarke, White, M Hussey, Hopes, Johnson, Hauritz, Harris, Bollinger - a formidable line up.

We are greeted by a magnificent day of weather here in Napier, nothing out of the ordinary for this region. We are headed for a high of 27-28 degrees C, the skies are blue and there is hardly any cloud to speak of.

The pitch and conditions couldn't be any better and after the amazing T20I match in Christchurch on Sunday night, today's game shapes as an absolute humdinger.

The teams have completed their warm ups and we will be underway in under 5 minutes with Haddin and Watson coming out to the middle to face the music against Shane Bond.

I am Marc Ellison and I will be commentating on today's game while Sanjay Murari will be scoring in the engine room.

Right, well New Zealand will be rather pleased with their effort to restrict Australia to under 300. Most of the Australian batsmen got starts but they seemed to struggle with the pace of the wicket at times and were unable to push on. Some good death bowling from Southee and Bond complemented the earlier efforts of Tuffey and Franklin.

Join us in 30 minutes when New Zealand begin their chase against a very very good Australian pace attack. It will be interesting to see how much of a difference Doug Bollinger makes after not playing the T20Is.

Can McCullum continue his recent run of form or will Bollinger, Harris and Johnson be far too good?
