England tour of New Zealand, 1st ODI: New Zealand v England at Wellington, Feb 9, 2008
New Zealand won by 6 wickets (with 120 balls remaining)
9 February 2008 - day/night match (50-over match)

Martin to Cook, OUT, bowled him! Cook stepped to leg a little and it cut back off the seam - also keeping a little low - and crept through the gate

AN Cook b Martin 11 (42m 26b 0x4 0x6) SR: 42.30

England 34/1   P Mustard 18* (33b 2x4)   CS Martin 4.5-1-13-1

Martin to Bell, OUT, a very loose drive, a thick inside edge diverts the ball from wide outside off stump into the stumps

IR Bell b Martin 5 (17m 16b 1x4 0x6) SR: 31.25

England 42/2   P Mustard 20* (37b 2x4)   CS Martin 6.1-1-17-2

Oram to Pietersen, OUT, that's the big one ... Pietersen drags the ball into his stumps from wide as he shapes to play into the leg side and the crowd goes wild

KP Pietersen b Oram 6 (25m 20b 0x4 0x6) SR: 30.00

England 55/3   P Mustard 27* (47b 2x4)   JDP Oram 3.1-0-7-1

Styris to Mustard, OUT, he plays all round a ball angled in with the arm, a nothing shot and his vigil comes to an end. The pressure applied by the captain and his parsimonious bowlers finally does for Mustard

P Mustard b Styris 31 (101m 60b 2x4 0x6) SR: 51.66

England 67/4   PD Collingwood 8* (7b 1x4)   SB Styris 2.3-0-7-1

Styris to Collingwood, OUT, punched to mid-on and Collingwood ambles through for a single but Shah's not moving at all - trouble here! Collingwood scampers back, dives, and although the throw is wide, McCullum whips off the bails and he's short. Amazingly, none of New Zealand's fielders are interested, and are over the moon that the third umpire has given him out

PD Collingwood run out 12 (30m 18b 1x4 0x6) SR: 66.66

England 80/5   OA Shah 9* (16b 1x4)   SB Styris 5-0-11-1

Styris to Bopara, OUT, hook, line and sinker. Short of a length, Bopara pulls it straight down Fulton's throat at deep square leg

RS Bopara c Fulton b Styris 3 (16m 21b 0x4 0x6) SR: 14.28

England 91/6   OA Shah 16* (27b 1x4)   SB Styris 7.2-1-15-2

Styris to Swann, OUT, this holds its line on Swann who guides it to Jamie How at backward point. A quick, flat throw into McCullum who whips off the bails and Swann's short by a foot

GP Swann run out 7 (14m 16b 1x4 0x6) SR: 43.75

England 103/7   OA Shah 20* (36b 1x4)   SB Styris 9.3-1-21-2

Vettori to Broad, OUT, punched out to the off side, oh dear - more trouble here for England as the throw comes in from cover. McCullum whips off the bails and he looks to be at least a foot short of his ground. The third umpire, Billy Bowden, is taking an age - two minutes and counting - to make a decision as there's some debate as to whether McCullum had the ball in his gloves at the point of the bails falling off. But he's eventually given out

OA Shah run out 20 (51m 36b 1x4 0x6) SR: 55.55

England 104/8   SCJ Broad 1* (4b)   DL Vettori 6.1-0-20-0

Patel to Sidebottom, OUT, a leading edge and it is hard to imagine a softer catch, Patel just stood there and it looped apologetically to him. Sidebottom was done by a tad extra bounce

RJ Sidebottom c & b Patel 4 (33m 28b 0x4 0x6) SR: 14.28

England 120/9   SCJ Broad 12* (33b 1x4)   JS Patel 4.4-0-9-1

Patel to Anderson, OUT, fuller, Patel appeals for leg before but Rauf looks slightly amused as the ball has clattered into the stumps off Anderson's pads

JM Anderson b Patel 3 (16m 18b 0x4 0x6) SR: 16.66

England 130/10   SCJ Broad 18* (39b 1x4)   JS Patel 6.4-0-14-2
