New Zealand won by 8 wickets (with 118 balls remaining)
14 March 2009 - day/night match (50-over match)

Mills to Gambhir, OUT, Mills strikes and New Zealand get into a celebratory huddle. It was cutting away from Gambhir who poked it to the keeper. One down.

G Gambhir c †McGlashan b Mills 5 (23m 16b 0x4 0x6) SR: 31.25

India 30/1   V Sehwag 19* (13b 1x4 2x6)   KD Mills 2.5-0-16-1

Oram to Raina, OUT, Scott Styris you beauty! There was lot of confusion initially about who is going to take it but Styris does it in the end. Raina went for a big swing, but got under the ball too much and the ball ballooned towards mid-on. Styris ran in from midwicket - the mid-on was sent back earlier - his captain was at mid-off. Yours or mine? It looked both were going to stand and watch but Styris moved in the end and dived to hold a tumbling catch. Two down. Wickets and runs. Where is Bill Lawry I say.

SK Raina c Styris b Oram 8 (23m 19b 1x4 0x6) SR: 42.10

India 65/2   V Sehwag 38* (23b 3x4 3x6)   JDP Oram 0.4-0-1-1

Oram to Sehwag, OUT, The Big cat has departed. Oram has struck. Oram saw Sehwag charging out like a speeding truck and quickly shortened the length. Sehwag tried to adjust by going for a pull shot but ended up top edging it high to point region where McCullum takes it. Entertainment over. Or does it? Yuvraj steps out.

V Sehwag c McCullum b Oram 40 (57m 27b 3x4 3x6) SR: 148.14

India 69/3   RG Sharma 2* (9b)   JDP Oram 1.5-0-3-2

Ryder to Yuvraj Singh, OUT, The Black Caps are rocking here. Ryder slips in a full length delivery, just like the previous two, and Yuvraj went for his square drive but ended up edging it behind.

Yuvraj Singh c †McGlashan b Ryder 11 (26m 24b 0x4 0x6) SR: 45.83

India 88/4   RG Sharma 9* (27b)   JD Ryder 2.5-0-9-1

Ryder to Dhoni, OUT, And Jesse Ryder has got rid of the Indian captain. As he has done through this little knock, Dhoni moved down the wicket and towards off stump. As he has done all through, Ryder kept his calm and got the ball to cut in from outside off. Dhoni went for the on-the-up push-drive but got a thick inside edge. Good persistent bowling gets the result.

MS Dhoni b Ryder 9 (19m 21b 1x4 0x6) SR: 42.85

India 110/5   RG Sharma 21* (39b 1x6)   JD Ryder 5.2-0-14-2

Ryder to Pathan, OUT, Ryder's day out. "I am a fan" say the banners from the Kiwis. Another delivery cutting into the batsman and Yusuf plays all around it and gets a fatal inside edge.. Timber! This is super stuff from Ryder and NZ.

YK Pathan b Ryder 0 (3m 4b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

India 111/6   RG Sharma 21* (39b 1x6)   JD Ryder 6-0-15-3

Oram to RG Sharma, 1 run, OUT, Vettori pulls off a smart piece of fielding, nothing smart about the Indians' running. It was driven well to the right of mid-off where Vettori ran to a make a fine diving stop. Harbhajan started to run initially but didn't want it on second thoughts but Rohit kept going across like a run-away train. THe throw comes to non-striker's end and Harbhajan gave himself up.

Harbhajan Singh run out 1 (8m 5b 0x4 0x6) SR: 20.00

India 116/7   RG Sharma 25* (49b 1x6)   JDP Oram 8.3-0-21-2

Vettori to Khan, OUT, Another run out. Another messy running. It was dabbed to short third man, Zaheer didn't want a run, Rohit wanted - it was the non-striker's call - and Zaheer responded late. Very late. Gone. Stranded. NZ fans are smiling at last.

Z Khan run out 5 (16m 10b 0x4 0x6) SR: 50.00

India 131/8   RG Sharma 35* (62b 1x4 1x6)   DL Vettori 1.2-0-8-0

O'Brien to Kumar, OUT, The short treatment has worked for O'Brien. Kumar went for another pull but ends up ballooning it high towards first slip and the keeper says he will take it and does so. And then they were one. What a evening for the hosts.

P Kumar c †McGlashan b O'Brien 6 (11m 12b 1x4 0x6) SR: 50.00

India 143/9   RG Sharma 40* (70b 1x4 1x6)   IE O'Brien 6.4-0-41-1

O'Brien to I Sharma, OUT, All out 149. O'Brien slips in a slower one and Ishant is early into the drive and edges straight to first slip.

I Sharma c Taylor b O'Brien 3 (7m 7b 0x4 0x6) SR: 42.85

India 149/10   RG Sharma 43* (74b 1x4 1x6)   IE O'Brien 7.3-0-43-2
