Ross Taylor, the New Zealand batsman, is in doubt for the second Test against West Indies in Napier starting on Friday after dislocating his right ring finger while fielding in Dunedin. Taylor chipped off part of the bone when dropping Brendan Nash in the slips on Sunday and left the field.
Taylor wasn't required to bat in the second innings as the fifth day was washed out without a ball being bowled. "We'll see how it settles," Lindsay Crocker, the team manager, told the New Zealand Herald. "But we are hopeful he should be okay to play next week."
Besides Taylor, the selectors have the added worry over the allrouder Jacob Oram, who missed the Test due to a calf injury. If he plays in Napier, he will be used as a specialist batsman and his availability will be monitored in the lead-up to the final match of the series.
