John Udal was a middle-order batsman who played a few games for the MCC before he headed abroad for a career in the diplomatic corp, finishing up as chief justice of the Leeward Islands. In 1894-95 he captained Fiji on their tour of New Zealand where they played eight first-class two-day matches.
