Nepal maintained their unbeaten run in the World Cricket League Division Four after completing an easy eight-wicket win over USA in the final of the tournament in Kuala Lumpur. The win was set up by left-arm spinner Basanta Regmi's five-wicket haul, which limited USA to 145 after they had chosen to bat. USA's top order was not allowed to settle into any substantial partnership as regular strikes reduced them to 83 for 5. The lower half of the batting order was then skittled by Regmi as Nepal removed the last four batsmen for eight runs.

Nepal lost opening batsmen Anil Mandal, who had scored a century in the previous game, in the third over, but a 93-run stand between Subash Khakurel and Gyanendra Malla all but sealed the contest. Malla scored a 65-ball 66 that included seven hits to the boundary and three over it, but was out in the 20th over. Khakurel, who remained not out on 40, shared another unbeaten stand with captain Paras Khadka to help Nepal achieve the target with 22 overs to spare. Regmi, who ended up as the tournament's leading wicket taker with 21 wickets, was awarded Man of the Match.

Both teams, however, had already qualified for Division Three and Nepal's coach, Pubudu Dassanayake, expressed happiness on his team's performance: "The team did just what was needed here and deserved to win. When I came to Nepal the goal was always to get this team up to a chance of qualifying for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 and this Division 4 win now means we're one step closer. There's a lot more hard work to do but I'm delighted with the progress so far."

Denmark collapsed to their lowest total in the tournament and ended in fourth position after a five-wicket loss to Singapore. Denmark chose to bat first but lost five wickets within the first 11 overs to Singapore's opening bowlers Chetan Suryawanshi and Amjad Mahboob. There was a brief recovery as Denmark hobbled to 60 without any further loss, but they lost three wickets on the same score and caved in to 83 in 26 overs.

Singapore were given a scare in their chase as Denmark opening bowler Bashir Shah picked two wickets in his first two overs, but by the time the next wicket fell - on 59 - Singapore were well on their way. Shah turned out to be the lone hand for Denmark, picking up all five wickets to fall, as Singapore finished the chase in the 17th over.

Although Singapore finished third, captain Saad Janjua was disappointed with the team's performance: "We came to Malaysia to win this tournament. The third place finish is very disappointing. We trained hard, prepared well but a bit of bad luck with the weather and the fact that our batting didn't click meant we underperformed."

In the third match of the day, Malaysia beat Tanzania by five wickets to finish fifth in the tournament. Tanzania equalled their best score in the tournament after being put into bat. Opening batsman Abhik Patwa scored 67 off 105 balls and helped Tanzania out from a tricky 45 for 3 after a 66-run partnership with Nasibu Mapunda (30 off 52). But Malaysia chipped away with wickets, while keeping a tab on run-scoring, to leave themselves with exactly the same target to achieve as the day before.

Tanzania bowlers responded well to first remove previous game's centurion, Rakesh Madhavan, in the 11th over. Seventeen overs later, Malaysia were five down on 85, giving Tanzania a sniff of a first win in the tournament. But an unbeaten 103-run stand between Shafiq Sharif (57 off 80) and Khizar Hayat (49 off 60) helped Malaysia cross the line in the 46th over.

Malaysia captain Suhan Alagaratnam said: "We bowled well but our batsmen have struggled throughout this tournament and we were in some difficulty until Khizar and Shafiq played well to get us through."

What a great moment for us. Now we are in ICC World Cricket League Division Three. We beat every opponents in group stage. We beat USA in final......I am really glad about that we are now competing for a spot in world cup 2015. Salute you guys..........you did incredible job & I am sure Nepal Government will appreciate it.

Congratulations Nepal!!!!well played. @ Assassin1 I am an Indian of Nepalese origin but why do you have to mention India when it has still a long way to go.I dont know why all the fans from our neighbouring countries have to do that.If it were not enough for fans of Pakistan,Sri Lanka and Bangladesh to always mention India(mostly negative comments) it seems even the Nepalese fans have jumped into the bandwagon. All of us should support and cheer for each other against the developed/western countries instead of taunting each other.

Nepal must think like Afghanistan and how they climb almost to top rather than thinking about India...even an ODI status would change everything there.

This was a bit of a grudge match, considering the crowd-interrupted match a few years back. Well done Nepal. I trekked in Nepal about 10yrs ago & was amazed by how many kids were playing cricket. I would imagine their has to be some scope for more contests against Afghanistan & some DEVELOPMENTAL sides from Bangladesh, Pakistan & India.

Well Done Nepal! Nepali Cricketers have made us very proud and each one of us should cherish the victory. We have a long way to go and Players and Officials should focus on the job. I wish Nepal Government pays more attention on infra-structure, and trainings. Our Players need good support financially from government and competitive matches on different playing conditions. If Cricket Association of Nepal and Government of Nepal can ensure these basic necessities, then, Nepal will be defenitely one of the competitive nations fro World Cup 2015. All the best pals!

First I would like to congratulate to team nepal's player for achieving WCL divission Iv trophy and step closer toward the ICC cricket World cup,In 2015. We all nepalese people hope is with this team to play world cup and we all cricket loving people believe that this Team can make our dream in reality.GOOD LUCK TEAM NEPAL....OUR WISHES IS WITH U GUYZ.

We played excellently, but the boys should not get carried away and focus on the job. There's more than 6 months to prepare for the Div 3. We need to prepare, and well! The grounds are reportedly small in Bermuda, so we need some practice for our pacers as well. Not that they didn't do good, but spinners will be less effective if even mis-hits keep going for six!

Posted by   on (September 10, 2012, 16:01 GMT)

Winning and losing are parts of game but how Nepal won there all matches was so impressive..Six matches and six different Man of the Match..simply awesome

mission still continue.... wc2015 our target go Nepal go

Posted by   on (September 10, 2012, 15:30 GMT)

very very hilarious moment for Nepali cricket fans. Hope they will again bring this moment later in Bermuda as well...

Posted by   on (September 10, 2012, 15:29 GMT)

USA needs to look at Youth and prepare now for 2013 in Bermuda. Players like Timil, Timbawala n a few need to be included. Groom others by early planning.

For years, the Nepalese team has been pulling major upsets at age-level but failing to capitalize on it at senior level. Until this tournament, Nepal has been really inconsistent. There are occasions in which we have defeated teams like Hong Kong, and then lost with Tanzania. I hope the Nepalese team carries the momentum ahead in division three tournament. There is not much difference between Nepal and the other teams in division three tournament. In fact, the fan base for Nepalese team is more than any other non-test playing nation. Besides, the players in Nepal, unlike most associate teams where the players are ex-pats, are home-breed.

Posted by   on (September 10, 2012, 15:03 GMT)

More support from government back home and enough practices in foreign pitches needed for more improvement as road to the world cup is now tougher...........hope NEPAL makes into it..............

U.S.A ??? They have to PICK a BETTER team. We have better players in the USA.

Posted by   on (September 10, 2012, 14:46 GMT)

Nepal played like a real champion. Having won all six matches quite convincingly, Nepal has shown that its level is far above other participating teams. Moreover, it has also shown the rest of the world that its cricketing potential is all rising and enhancing. If it plays like this in Division III also, surely Nepal will be able to get a chance to play World Cup 2015 qualifier.

Posted by   on (September 10, 2012, 14:24 GMT)

@Assassin- Congrats to Team Nepal and best of luck for Division 3. But , ''Beware India....Nepal is coming" does not make any sense. Teams like Ireland and Scotland have been around for long but having difficulty to sustain at the top level. It will take at least 10+ years before Nepal even thinking about defeating teams like Australia, India, Pakistan , South Africa or even Ireland, Scotland and Zimbabwe. Nepal should focus on climbing the Everest step by step. Aiming to reach at the top so early might take it into a big hole.

i really appreciated Nepalese boys.its their effort and hard work that makes them stronger to beat any other opposition team............ congratulation to all boys..that we are in division-3 now, a new goal to achieve further.............. lets support our team for their upcoming division-3 matches too...................best of luck my boys.........

Posted by   on (September 10, 2012, 14:09 GMT)

congratulation to Nepal and we, Nepalese ..... We beat all the countries in this world....:))

This could be the beginning of something very special. Its good momentum that is needed to be carried on for some more period of time. Hope these guys will get support from the required institutions back home in Nepal. Well done Boys.

Nepal is a smaller country in the world. Not to cause of area but economically ,politically it has no clear recognition to the world.small country like People are famous for various aspect in the world.some country are famous for politically, economical prospority and neuclear power.some country are famous due to their esports quality. But Nepal has no any special quality in any sector.although Nepal has no special quality,we are hopeful to Nepal that it will be known as a sport power in the world because Nepal win the division four world cup cricket leageu match 2012.

Posted by   on (September 10, 2012, 12:28 GMT)

Winning any tournament being undefeated is no mean feat. Nepal did all that and also demolished all opponents. Division 3 looks far easier than Division 4 . Apart from Bermuda, rest look ordinary. Div 3 title will be fought between Nepal, Bermuda and the USA. Dont know how were these teams ranked in first place anyway.

Posted by   on (September 10, 2012, 12:26 GMT)

congrats to team nepal.they played superbly.and my best wishes is that this momentum should be maintain in order to qualify for world cup 2015.
