When VVS tried to contact him before announcing his retirement, Dhoni was not reachable as he generally is (Oh a VVIP for even Laxman, ehh ?) So how did Dhoni know, VVS didn't send him invitation ? It could be that, VVS might have tried to invite him but again the same "VVIP " Dhoni was not reachable ! or even VVS would have thought of NOT even trying to invite him as Dhoni would not be reachable again ! Whatever, I'm happy that Dhoni got humiliated.

But he clearly said that MS was not available when VVS was looking for him before he announced his retirement.. so that says a lot about Dhoni and why he wasn't invited but should have.. both the players have done a lot for Indian cricket but that 281 against mighty Aussies and lots of match saving/winning knocks allow VVS to stay ahead...far ahead of MS

In spite of his repeated failures on critical tours like England and Australia, I don't think Dhoni criticized or gave up on the seniors... he was critical about Sehwag's fielding and as a captain he has every right to do so.. inviting guys like Gambhir and ignoring Dhoni only shows the petty-mindedness of VVS and nothing else... the seniors should have called it a time almost a year back... I don't think there was any reason for them to continue so long... it is indeed true that the seniors have blocked some young guys cricketing time needlessly... full stop...
