As @Nipaos points out, the sketch refers to so many South African born cricketers playing for England (wearing the 3 lions). Smith is 'another' one of those South Africans although he "wears the 3 lions" in a different way. That's why this sketch is doubly brilliant - hints at 2 different themes and connects those seemingly exclusive topics in a funny way!
