@LifeOFjoy : You hit the nail at the right spot. Ajmal's just one good series against England does not qualify him for nominations. Please see his performance against Sri Lanka, which Pakistan lost the series in spinner freindly conditions, his performance was mediocore. I agree with Philander's nomination and he should be getting the ICC award.
@LifeOfJoy Ajmal should be the player of the year .. since he was the most consistent across all formats ... as for test performances if u think that he didnt have an impact u need to understand the kind of lifeless surfaces he plays on
@LifeOFjoy: u r genius, impressed by ur analysis, why don't u join analyst panel on ESPN, or join the 32 members panel for ICC awards, u seems to be 1 of them ;))
im amazed by some comments from ignorant who even dont care about statsguru option here.Dude Ajmal got better run per wicket everage than philinder and more wickets than anyone and he ws the reason why English men destroyed in UAE and Srilanka Hardly managed to ger1-0 win in 3 test matches.and Bangladehs lost to 2-0.So make sure to use statsguru option its really easy.
@LifeOFjoy: You said Ajmal was a part of few lost series. For your kind information, in the qualifying period for the award, Pakistan's win-loss ratio was 7-1 with a 'series win-loss ratio' of 3-1, all due to Ajmal's devastating bowling. Against England, Philander took 5 wickets in 2 matches during qualification period, while Ajmal took 24 wickets in 3 matches against England in the same period. Seriously dude, you need to try out Cricinfo's Statsguru!
@LifeOfJoy mate Ajmal was good across all formats ... the next bowler is a good 40 wickets behind in the calendar year under consideration ... as for match winner .. i think if that is the criteria than please check out who took the most MOM awards last year ... u will b surprised :)
Should Ajmal be a lock for the award...no. Should he be in the shortlist-probably. Should Pakistan boycott the ICC awards. Most likely.
@ LifeOFjoyDude: Ajmal's average was 14.5 per wicket. And what losses are you talking about? Pak beat England 3-0
Good one. I'm waiting if anybody starts holding BCCI responsible for Ajmal's omission..
didn't get it... can anyone explain?? Plz satish!!!
Philander was a debutant who took 56 wickets in 12 odd matches with a record for fastest to reach 50 wkts and record 5fers in first few innings. All this @17 run per wicket. His impact and even stats percentage wise are better than Ajmal. Besides all of them were in match winning performances unlike Ajmal who was part of few lost series .Thats why he edged Ajmal whose performances were good but not impactful as Vernons performances.
Cartoon is awesome ... but not the message :P
Ajmal really deserved to be in short-listed nominees as he has taken 20 more test wickets than philander ...
