Hamza six-for gives Karachi big win

A round-up of the Gold League Quaid-e-Azam Trophy matches that ended on December 15, 2015

Six wickets from Karachi Dolphins' left-arm pacer Mir Hamza wrapped up Rawalpindi Rams for 117 on the fourth day to complete a 120-run win in Sind. Chasing 238, Rawalpindi started the day on 48 for 1 but lost their remaining nine wickets for 68 as Karachi's bowlers, led by Hamza (6 for 41) and Babar Rehman (3 for 27), allowed only five batsmen to reach double figures, with a high score of 25* from No. 8 Aqib Shah.
Sent in to bat, Karachi scored 325 with the help of Mohammad Waqas' 128 and fifties from Yasir Mushtaq (62) and Babar Hussain (53). Rizwan Akbar and Haseeb Azam picked up four wickets apiece. Several Rawalpindi batsmen got starts but only one scored a fifty, Yasim Murtaza (58*), as they were restricted to 253 with the help of a five-for from Babar Rehman, and conceded a lead of 72 runs.
Rawalpindi's bowlers replied by curtailing Karachi's second-innings score to 165, as Rizwan (4 for 51) and Haseeb (6 for 52) shared all ten wickets. Hamza's six-for on the last day meant Rawalpindi could not score even half of their target of 238.
Ali Sarfraz's unbeaten fourth-innings 112 guided Islamabad Leopards to a five-wicket win over Lahore Lions in Karachi. Set 271 to win, Leopards were 62 for 3 at one stage but Sarfraz took them home with his 152-ball innings, which contained 16 fours. Faizan Riaz and Sarmad Bhatti, batting at 5 and 6, provided good support to Sarfraz, scoring 51 and 53 respectively.
The win was set up on the first day, when Leopards sent Lions in to bat and bowled them out for 149. Leopard's captain, the medium-pacer Zohaib Ahmed, led from the front with figures of 5 for 66. Leopards ended the day six down, with the scores level, and extended their lead to 55 before they were bowled out for 204. The seamers continued to dominate proceedings, with Mohammad Saeed picking up six wickets.
Lions fought back in their third innings, courtesy Umar Siddiq's 136-ball 113 and half-centuries from Raza Ali Dar and Farhan Khan. Their total of 325 enabled them to set Leopards a challenging target but it was Sarfraz who had the final say.
