Fast bowler Mohammad Amir stole the limelight on the second day of the PSL, taking a hat-trick to power Karachi Kings to a seven-wicket victory against Lahore Qalandars in Dubai.

Amir made his international comeback in the recent series against New Zealand, but by his own bowling coach Waqar Younis' admission, "was not at his best, but getting there". On Friday, he bowled Dwayne Bravo's middle stump, had Zohaib Khan caught behind, and trapped Kevon Cooper lbw with successive deliveries in the 19th over, restricting Lahore to a below-par 125 for 8.

However, even before Amir's blows, Lahore were struggling to build any momentum, motoring about at barely six an over. Mohammad Rizwan top-scored with a 31-ball 37, but lacked support from the other end, as the likes of Chris Gayle, Azhar Ali, Cameron Delport and Sohaib Maqsood all failed to make good on their starts.

Karachi had little trouble knocking off the small total, as despite losing two early wickets, fifties from Lendl Simmons and Shakib Al Hasan guided the team home inside 16 overs. Simmons struck eight fours and two sixes for his 62 not out, while Shakib's 35-ball 51 featured three fours and sixes each; the pair added 109 runs for the third wicket.

Very low intensity in PSL. A long awaited event is far below then expectations. reason The local Players should play for their own city. i am islamabadian. Do not support Islamabad, can not support karachi. The level of piches is sooooo poor. they dead and lifeless. average level spinners and medium pacers like rumman raees are enjoying but nothing much for genuine fast bowlers and good batsmen. poor management has made it failure event.

This is serious cricket not a circus, where batsmen hammer bowler in a flat wicket and score 100-150. cricket should be play in a balance wicket. if you have skill, you can score, if you have skill you have bowled. i really happy and support PSL cricket. no doubt tough cricket ahead to all players including overseas. join PSL and enhanced your batting skills.

if pitches are not supportive then teams should look to do something different like promoting pinch hitters. for example someone like an Anwar Ali or imad wasim coming one-down and try to capitalise in the powerplay overs.

Still surprised Sadaf Hussain isn't in here. And the matches I've seen, I don't really recall seeing any bowler and thinking 'wow'. @capmeanster: Yeah, I kinda agree with you. Don't just wanna see bowlers flogged. But should be scoring around 160ish at least to make it interesting. Karachi made their total look like a cake walk, though. Might not be all the pitch, but the batters themselves.

Yeah the pitch is not an ideal one for the first edition of psl

  • Go-Greens on February 6, 2016, 7:59 GMT

Many fans here support pitches what we witness in psl. No one here is asking pitches what IPL or BBL prepares, where batsmen score 180 or even 200+. Avg score so far in PSL is 125 or 130 and that's what spectators won't spend their savings for. It should have atleast been 150. If next year PSL is to be organised in UAE then they have to alter these pitches a bit or audience wont care much for PSL 2nd edition, ultimately resulting a great loss to pakistan cricket. With avg 150 score it'll be a different league with huge entertainment as well.

PSL is pakistans chance of bringing atleast 1 good batsmen in the team from domestic level
