MCC Spirit of Cricket Test Series - 1st Test

Australia v Pakistan

Australia won by 150 runs

Overs 1-50  | Overs 51-100

Mohammad Amir to Watson, OUT, gone this time! Top bowling from Aamer! Once again Watson shouldered arms, but once again it pitched and straightened to his alarm. It crashed into his back pad, then ran up his body on to his arm before trickling on the stumps. Out bowled, but it would also have been a stone-dead lbw, the umpire had given the decision

SR Watson b Mohammad Amir 4 (19m 16b 1x4 0x6) SR: 25.00

Australia 8/1   SM Katich 2* (12b)   Mohammad Amir 2.4-1-2-1

Mohammad Amir to Ponting, OUT, gone! Huge breakthrough for Pakistan and brilliant reflexes at short leg. Ponting middled his flick, but Umar Amin watched the ball and instinctively hung on. Short leg is a valuable position for Ponting, but you can't really plan for wickets like that

RT Ponting c Umar Amin b Mohammad Amir 26 (66m 39b 4x4 0x6) SR: 66.66

Australia 51/2   SM Katich 13* (48b 1x4)   Mohammad Amir 7-1-20-2

Mohammad Asif to Clarke, OUT, Asif strikes! The last ball before tea, and Pakistan really needed this! It was a touch fuller, pitched in line and jagged back down the slope, Clarke was beaten by the movement as he tried to defend and this time umpire Gould gives the decision. Touch unlucky for Clarke, replays show it sliding down the leg side.

MJ Clarke lbw b Mohammad Asif 47 (110m 77b 8x4 0x6) SR: 61.03

Australia 171/3   SM Katich 77* (131b 9x4)   Mohammad Asif 11-2-39-1

Mohammad Asif to Katich, OUT, gone! Asif gets another and it's a massive wicket. On off stump and late movement away from Katich which took the outside edge through to Kamran Akmal. A cracking ball. The previous one came back in, this one shaped away.

SM Katich c †Kamran Akmal b Mohammad Asif 80 (206m 138b 9x4 0x6) SR: 57.97

Australia 174/4   MEK Hussey 0* (2b)   Mohammad Asif 11.3-2-39-2

Mohammad Asif to North, OUT, gone! What a beauty from Asif and North goes without scoring. Swung back into the left hander who played a loose drive and the ball took off stump. Great sight for Pakistan

MJ North b Mohammad Asif 0 (1m 3b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

Australia 174/5   MEK Hussey 0* (2b)   Mohammad Asif 12-3-39-3

Umar Gul to Paine, OUT, gets this right though! Gul finally joins the paceman's party and Paine's tough debut innings is over! It was a touch quicker and it bounced a fraction more on Paine, moving away and clipping the outside edge through to Akmal, who made no mistake

TD Paine c †Kamran Akmal b Umar Gul 7 (55m 46b 1x4 0x6) SR: 15.21

Australia 206/6   MEK Hussey 23* (36b 3x4 1x6)   Umar Gul 12.1-3-21-1

Danish Kaneria to Smith, OUT, And Kaneria wins the battle straight away! Pitched in line, it was a topspinner that squeezed between bat and pad, stuck in front, but replays show Smith got a faint inside edge, so he's unlucky. Big wicket that!

SPD Smith lbw b Danish Kaneria 1 (5m 7b 0x4 0x6) SR: 14.28

Australia 208/7   MEK Hussey 23* (36b 3x4 1x6)   Danish Kaneria 12.1-4-43-1

Danish Kaneria to Johnson, OUT, lovely bowling! Really good to watch! The pressure built all over, Johnson had no idea what was going on, this was looped up outside off, Johnson aimed an airy drive and it spun back quickly through the gate on to the stumps

MG Johnson b Danish Kaneria 3 (12m 9b 0x4 0x6) SR: 33.33

Australia 213/8   MEK Hussey 24* (45b 3x4 1x6)   Danish Kaneria 14-5-47-2

Mohammad Amir to Hilfenhaus, OUT, the plan works! Aamer only needs one ball! It was full, swung back and through Hilfenhaus's defence to rattle off stump!

BW Hilfenhaus b Mohammad Amir 1 (10m 8b 0x4 0x6) SR: 12.50

Australia 222/9   MEK Hussey 32* (55b 4x4 1x6)   Mohammad Amir 17-2-61-3

Mohammad Amir to Bollinger, OUT, not so well played! The perfect ball to a No. 11. A full inswinging yorker, clatters the pads, ricochets into the stumps, and Australia's first innings is over!

DE Bollinger b Mohammad Amir 4 (59m 28b 1x4 0x6) SR: 14.28

Australia 253/10   MEK Hussey 56* (100b 8x4 1x6)   Mohammad Amir 19.5-2-72-4
