Pakistan v Australia ODI Series - 3rd ODI

All set for the series decider. Pattinson has the first new ball
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello all and welcome to the coverage of the final ODI of the three-match ODI series between Pakistan and Australia. When it is Sharjah at this time of the year, you keep an eye on the temperatures. Robin Jackman, reckons that it is 45 or 46 degrees out in the middle. With a mild breeze blowing, it might reduce to early forties

Azhar Ali is in conversation with Danny Morrison, and he says "Test cricket is the first priority. Enjoying playing ODI's as well. There was no difficulty in adapting to ODI's. The coach and the captain want me to bowl a little more. A few overs here and there would be of help to the team. You need to improvise sometimes to score. Everybody in the dressing room is pumped up to do well and win the series"

It is the sort of a pitch where you win the toss and bat. The two captains are out in the middle.

Australia win the toss and they want to bowl

Michael Clarke: "With the dew factor coming in later on in the night, and the fact that Pakistan have four spinners in the line-up, we would expect there would be lesser turn. Openers have been told to play their natural game and there is no pressure on them whatsoever"

Australia go into the match unchanged

Misbah-ul-Haq: "The last game we played here, there was not much dew. We expect the conditions to be same today"

Pakistan have made one change- Shahid Afridi comes back into the team at the expense of Sohail Tanvir"

Kazim says "4 Spinners & 1 Pacer. It happens only for Pakistan." I remember spinners bowling close to 40 overs for Sri Lanka against Australia in the 2002/03 Champions Trophy semi-final

Tamoor says "Today is method (Australia) vs flare (Pakistan), so toss really becomes irrelevant here." Well, only if there is no dew. Anyways, at around 3AM local time, we would know what was relevant and what wasn't.

Fawad reckons Australia have failed to read the conditions. He says "Well, Australia have made a mistake here on the dew factor, there was dew in Abu dhabi because abu dhabi ground is out of city and in the open area whereas sharjah ground is in the city and there will be same conditions as per the first ODI."

A lot of feedbackers are not happy with the composition of the Pakistan team. "Four spinners and one pacer" is the common refrain in all of them

Randy says "I'd say a few of Australian batsmen are on thin ice today. They simply haven't been performing, and considering the heat, it is very, very thin ice for some of them"

I'm never in favour of jigging up the batting order and even if I was, Afridi wouldn't be the man to send in as there was still about half the overs left in the innings. Pakistan got a good opening stand and all of a sudden people were talking about scores of 320+. Pakistan were 140 for 1 in the 29th over. Honest. Shows just how well the openers, Hafeez and Jamshed, batted. Jamshed was in good nick, but Hafeez had a huge struggle initially. To his credit, he battled it out and prospered. And despite all the criticism he gets from fans, Mitchell Johnson coming out with the best economy rate among the frontline Australia bowlers, and also getting the first couple of breakthroughs. Four for Starc, who was pretty good during the latter part of the innings

Aina: "Maybe it does take a woman to sympathize with Misbah. As I see it, the way he bats and his way of thinking is largely influenced by all the frustrations he faced trying to make a career out of cricket. He does send Afridi and then Afridi fails and he needs to go back to his defensive shell. It is a vicious cycle really. Those winning runs in the last game were welcome!"
