Pakistan v England T20I Series - 2nd T20I

England v Pakistan

England won by 38 runs

Good Saturday to you, and welcome to the second T20 dust-up between Pakistan and England at the Dubai International Stadium. Pakistan have a 1-0 lead in the series after winning the staring contest on Thursday ... and, if there's anything we've learned from this tour, it's that when one of these two teams gets on a roll, they're hard to stop. Another whitewashing for England, the World Twenty20 champions, would not look good six months out from their defence.

Anyway, the news from the middle is that England have won the toss and will bat. They are unchanged, while Pakistan bring in Aizaz Cheema for Junaid Khan. Stuart Broad thinks the wicket will have broken up a bit since the other night, so wanted first use with the bat; Misbah-ul-Haq says he would have made the same choice.

Pakistan: 1 Mohammad Hafeez, 2 Awais Zia, 3 Asad Shafiq, 4 Umar Akmal, 5 Misbah-ul-Haq, 6 Shahid Afridi, 7 Shoaib Malik, 8 Hammad Azam, 9 Umar Gul, 10 Aizaz Cheema, 11 Saeed Ajmal

England: 1 Kevin Pietersen, 1 Craig Kieswetter, 3 Ravi Bopara, 4 Eoin Morgan, 5 Jonny Bairstow, 6 Jos Buttler, 7 Samit Patel, 8 Graeme Swann, 9 Stuart Broad, 10 Jade Dernbach, 11 Steven Finn

As an aside, you may have noticed that there's a smorgasbord of sport (a sporgasboard?) on today ... Should you wish to overload those synapses a touch more, with England v Wales in the Six Nations or the afternoon's Premier League football, you know how to point and click a mouse. I won't be offended. Much. And there's more hyperlink gold in the form of our toss and teams report.

Anyway, I've been Alan Gardner (and am likely to continue in that role for the forseeable). You can join me and Andrew "Gnasher" McGlashan for all the action in about 15 minutes' time now.

We're going to have a tweaker bowling the first over - it'll be Mohammad Hafeeze to Kevin Pietersen.

0.1

Mohammad Hafeez to Pietersen, FOUR, tossed up, swept hard past backward square leg and KP is off and running

0.2

Mohammad Hafeez to Pietersen, 1 run, shorter, on off stump and chopped at late, the ball squirting to square leg via a thick inside edge

0.3

Mohammad Hafeez to Kieswetter, no run, full, defended to midwicket

0.4

Mohammad Hafeez to Kieswetter, 2 runs, on the stumps, worked out to deep square off the pads

0.5

Mohammad Hafeez to Kieswetter, no run, given some air, swept on the front foot to midwicket

0.6

Mohammad Hafeez to Kieswetter, no run, flatter, on the stumps, clipped to the man at midwicket again

Looks like there a decent crowd in again. Toot those horns ...

End of over 1 (7 runs) England 7/0 (RR: 7.00)
C Kieswetter    2* (4b)      Mohammad Hafeez    1-0-7-0
KP Pietersen    5* (2b 1x4)

At the other end it's going to be Aizaz Cheema, preferred to the wayward Junaid Khan today ...

1.1

Aizaz Cheema to Pietersen, no run, length, defended in front of the stumps

1.2

Aizaz Cheema to Pietersen, no run, bit of width and Pietersen steps out, drives hard into the wicket and fielded by the bowler

1.3

Aizaz Cheema to Pietersen, FOUR, touch short, wide again and hammered through the covers

1.4

Aizaz Cheema to Pietersen, 1 run, tighter line, not quite so much room for Pietersen to swing his forearms, punched wide of extra-cover

1.5

Aizaz Cheema to Kieswetter, no run, full, wide, slashed square on bended knee but straight to point

1.6

Aizaz Cheema to Kieswetter, no run, back of a length and played down on to the wicket

End of over 2 (5 runs) England 12/0 (RR: 6.00)
C Kieswetter    2* (6b)      Aizaz Cheema    1-0-5-0
KP Pietersen    10* (6b 2x4)      Mohammad Hafeez    1-0-7-0

2.1

Mohammad Hafeez to Pietersen, no run, tossed up outside off, as Pietersen step into position across his stumps - but his lusty sweep doesn't properly connect

2.2

Mohammad Hafeez to Pietersen, 1 run, straighter, played down the wicket

2.3

Mohammad Hafeez to Kieswetter, 1 run, on the stumps, clipped into the leg side

2.4

Mohammad Hafeez to Pietersen, 1 wide, loses his line down the leg side

2.4

Mohammad Hafeez to Pietersen, 1 run, advances on the bowler and plays a clip to long-on

2.5

Mohammad Hafeez to Kieswetter, 2 runs, dragged short, Kieswetter punches into the gap in front of deep midwicket and the batsmen run hard for a couple

2.6

Mohammad Hafeez to Kieswetter, 1 run, tossed up outside off, aims a slog-sweep out towards deep micwicket butdoesn't connect properly - which is lucky, because the ball drops short of the fielder

End of over 3 (7 runs) England 19/0 (RR: 6.33)
C Kieswetter    6* (9b)      Mohammad Hafeez    2-0-14-0
KP Pietersen    12* (9b 2x4)      Aizaz Cheema    1-0-5-0

3.1

Aizaz Cheema to Kieswetter, 1 run, full, leg-stump attack and crumped off his pads towards deep backward square

3.2

Aizaz Cheema to Pietersen, FOUR, slower ball, straight and slightly full, Pietersen lofts it back over the bowler's head. Not the cleanest connection but plenty enough to make the rope

3.3

Aizaz Cheema to Pietersen, 1 run, length, on off, punched to cover

3.4

Aizaz Cheema to Kieswetter, 2 runs, again Kieswetter connects with the toe of the bat, aiming to deposit the ball somewhere in the Persian gulf. This time it just has enough to clear midwicket running back

3.5

Aizaz Cheema to Kieswetter, FOUR, you could spread Kieswetter on toast, he's that jammy at the moment ... this time he slices over short third man for a boundary!

3.6

Aizaz Cheema to Kieswetter, FOUR, ah, a genuine stroke! Pitched up, outside off and drilled over extra-cover, one bounce to the fence

That just tips England's start from 'decent' to 'pretty good' ...

End of over 4 (16 runs) England 35/0 (RR: 8.75)
C Kieswetter    17* (13b 2x4)      Aizaz Cheema    2-0-21-0
KP Pietersen    17* (11b 3x4)      Mohammad Hafeez    2-0-14-0

First change and on comes Saeed Ajmal ...

4.1

Saeed Ajmal to Pietersen, no run, length, on the stumps, defended cautiously

4.2

Saeed Ajmal to Pietersen, OUT, Ajmal's done it again! Pietersen has been playing like Superman recently but Ajmal, dressed in green, is trickier than Kryptonite. Pietersen tried to sweep on leg stump but could only scoop the ball to short fine leg. He walks off scratching his head

KP Pietersen c Umar Gul b Saeed Ajmal 17 (22m 13b 3x4 0x6) SR: 130.76

4.3

Saeed Ajmal to Bopara, no run, on the stumps, played back to the bowler

4.4

Saeed Ajmal to Bopara, no run, leg side, hit on the pads

4.5

Saeed Ajmal to Bopara, 1 run, touch short, shovelled to square leg

4.6

Saeed Ajmal to Kieswetter, 1 run, length, on the stumps, nibbled to one side of midwicket

And not for the first time on this tour, England have had their trousers pulled down by Ajmal. Just two runs and a wicket off the over.

End of over 5 (2 runs) England 37/1 (RR: 7.40)
C Kieswetter    18* (14b 2x4)      Saeed Ajmal    1-0-2-1
RS Bopara    1* (3b)      Aizaz Cheema    2-0-21-0

And here's Pakistan's other world-leading T20 bowler, Umar Gul ...

5.1

Umar Gul to Kieswetter, 1 run, full, driven into the off side

5.2

Umar Gul to Bopara, OUT, and he strikes with his second ball too! The delivery was straight, on a good length and Bopara seemed to misread the line, playing around the ball and being hit on the knee roll. Might have been angling towards leg but there are no reviews in this form of the game so Bopara has to make like a tree and leave

RS Bopara lbw b Umar Gul 1 (7m 4b 0x4 0x6) SR: 25.00

In comes Eoin Morgan ...

5.3

Umar Gul to Morgan, no run, around the wicket, speared in, defended into the on side

5.4

Umar Gul to Morgan, FOUR, full, outside off and driven uppishly past extra-cover. Looked like half a chance for a catch but it quickly sped away off the surface

5.5

Umar Gul to Morgan, FOUR, wide again and a more authentic square drive gives Morgan consecutive boundaries

5.6

Umar Gul to Morgan, no run, length, on off and punched to cover off the back foot

End of over 6 (9 runs) England 46/2 (RR: 7.66)
EJG Morgan    8* (4b 2x4)      Umar Gul    1-0-9-1
C Kieswetter    19* (15b 2x4)      Saeed Ajmal    1-0-2-1

Pietersen dismissed, Ajmal slinks back into the mists. Hafeez is on again ...

6.1

Mohammad Hafeez to Kieswetter, 1 run, length, tapped down the ground to long-on

6.2

Mohammad Hafeez to Morgan, 1 run, played down the ground off a length

6.3

Mohammad Hafeez to Kieswetter, 1 run, flatter, tickled square on the leg side

6.4

Mohammad Hafeez to Morgan, no run, angled in, skidding off the surface - and was that pad first? Hafeez thinks so, Morgan trying to cut when there wasn't room. Replays show there was bat but it came second

6.5

Mohammad Hafeez to Morgan, OUT, this time he gets the decision! Morgan pushed forward to a length ball, sliding in, played around his pad and although it might have been just outside the line, umpire Raza makes up for his error on the previous delivery

EJG Morgan lbw b Mohammad Hafeez 9 (7m 7b 2x4 0x6) SR: 128.57

6.6

Mohammad Hafeez to Bairstow, 1 run, over the wicket, tossed up, blocked down the wicket

End of over 7 (4 runs) England 50/3 (RR: 7.14)
JM Bairstow    1* (1b)      Mohammad Hafeez    3-0-18-1
C Kieswetter    21* (17b 2x4)      Umar Gul    1-0-9-1

On comes Shahid Afridi to revel in the chaos ...

7.1

Shahid Afridi to Bairstow, no run, googly, slanting in on off, cut late on the back foot, just in front of the stumps

7.2

Shahid Afridi to Bairstow, 2 runs, tossed up a bit more, driven square towards the deep cover boundary

7.3

Shahid Afridi to Bairstow, FOUR, tossed up and chipped over the infield, a well-placed shot that beats the dive of the fielder on the boundary

7.4

Shahid Afridi to Bairstow, 1 leg bye, angled in, quicker delivery, hit on the pad but sliding down leg

7.5

Shahid Afridi to Kieswetter, 1 run, back of a length, cut to deep backward point

7.6

Shahid Afridi to Bairstow, no run, full, on off, driven authentically to cover

End of over 8 (8 runs) England 58/3 (RR: 7.25)
JM Bairstow    7* (6b 1x4)      Shahid Afridi    1-0-7-0
C Kieswetter    22* (18b 2x4)      Mohammad Hafeez    3-0-18-1

8.1

Mohammad Hafeez to Kieswetter, no run, length, Kieswetter steps out and punches to extra-cover, who fields smartly, Bairstow forced to dive to regain his ground at the non-striker's end

8.2

Mohammad Hafeez to Kieswetter, 1 run, back of a length, worked of his pads

8.3

Mohammad Hafeez to Bairstow, no run, driven back to the bowler

8.4

Mohammad Hafeez to Bairstow, FOUR, flat, on the stumps but Biarstow is quickly back, manufacturing a powerful pull stroke over midwicket. Lovely placement

8.5

Mohammad Hafeez to Bairstow, 1 run, tossed up, driven down the ground to long-off

8.6

Mohammad Hafeez to Kieswetter, 1 run, on the stumps, clipped to long-on

And that ends Hafeez's spell - decent figures of 1-25 from Pakistan's third spinner

End of over 9 (7 runs) England 65/3 (RR: 7.22)
C Kieswetter    24* (21b 2x4)      Mohammad Hafeez    4-0-25-1
JM Bairstow    12* (9b 2x4)      Shahid Afridi    1-0-7-0

9.1

Shahid Afridi to Kieswetter, 1 run, room outside off, cut hard behind point

9.2

Shahid Afridi to Bairstow, SIX, shot! tossed up googly and Bairstow swings the meat of the bat through it on the full, pinging it down the ground

9.3

Shahid Afridi to Bairstow, 1 run, outside off, length ball stroked to cover

9.4

Shahid Afridi to Kieswetter, SIX, this time Kieswetter goes big! Flighted, on leg and heaved over deep midwicket

9.5

Shahid Afridi to Kieswetter, OUT, Afridi gets his revenge, Kieswetter caught in the deep! The ball was tossed up outside off and Kieswetter fell victim to a sugar rush, scooping the ball high but not far enough, the catch taken at long-off

C Kieswetter c Umar Gul b Shahid Afridi 31 (46m 24b 2x4 1x6) SR: 129.16

9.6

Shahid Afridi to Patel, no run, on the stumps, defended

And with England wobbling, I shall hand over to Andrew McGlashan ...

End of over 10 (14 runs) England 79/4 (RR: 7.90)
SR Patel    0* (1b)      Shahid Afridi    2-0-21-1
JM Bairstow    19* (11b 2x4 1x6)      Mohammad Hafeez    4-0-25-1

Thanks Alan. Pakistan keeping taking useful wickets. Here's Shoaib Malik

10.1

Shoaib Malik to Bairstow, 2 runs, short from round the wicket, cut away in front of deep cover

10.2

Shoaib Malik to Bairstow, 1 run, on leg stump, tucked to the right of midwicket

10.3

Shoaib Malik to Patel, 1 run, tossed up a little more to Patel who comes onto the front foot then works it along the ground to deep square leg

10.4

Shoaib Malik to Bairstow, FOUR, wonderful strike from Bairstow as he drills a full delivery back past the non-striker's stumps with the timing to split long-off and long-on. Gem of a shot

10.5

Shoaib Malik to Bairstow, 1 run, worked down the ground to long-off

10.6

Shoaib Malik to Patel, 1 run, quicker ball outside off, Patel on the back foot opens the face and runs it behind point

End of over 11 (10 runs) England 89/4 (RR: 8.09)
SR Patel    2* (3b)      Shoaib Malik    1-0-10-0
JM Bairstow    27* (15b 3x4 1x6)      Shahid Afridi    2-0-21-1

Interesting change here as Aizaz Cheema comes into the attack.

11.1

Aizaz Cheema to Patel, 1 run, back of a length on off stump and dropped square on the off side

11.2

Aizaz Cheema to Bairstow, no run, stands tall in the crease and drives a good-length delivery on the up straight to cover

11.3

Aizaz Cheema to Bairstow, no run, doesn't time this, stops a fraction in the surface as he tries to drive and it lobs back towards the bowler

Good pressure from Cheema so far

11.4

Aizaz Cheema to Bairstow, 1 leg bye, slower ball drifts into the pads, Bairstow can't take advantage and he's through his shot early. The ball dribbles to the on side. Patel almost collides with Cheema taking the leg bye

11.5

Aizaz Cheema to Patel, 1 wide, fire down the leg side

11.5

Aizaz Cheema to Patel, no run, another dot ball adds to the pressure on Patel...tight on off stump and Patel can only push it to the leg side

11.6

Aizaz Cheema to Patel, 1 wide, loses his line again down the leg side and that gifts England another extra and another delivery

11.6

Aizaz Cheema to Patel, 1 run, pounds the pitch back of a length, Patel struggling for his timing and drives to mid-off who is inside the circle

An eight-ball over, yet a good one for Pakistan

End of over 12 (5 runs) England 94/4 (RR: 7.83)
SR Patel    4* (6b)      Aizaz Cheema    3-0-25-0
JM Bairstow    27* (18b 3x4 1x6)      Shoaib Malik    1-0-10-0

He's back. He's Ajmal.

12.1

Saeed Ajmal to Patel, 1 run, tucked neatly off around middle stump through the vacant short fine-leg area

12.2

Saeed Ajmal to Bairstow, 1 run, backs away to expose his stumps then cuts to find deep cover

12.3

Saeed Ajmal to Patel, 1 run, sharp turn this time, Patel waits on the back foot having stepped to leg and forces it square on the off side

12.4

Saeed Ajmal to Bairstow, no run, angled towards the pads but Bairstow can't take advantage and it rolls to short fine leg

12.5

Saeed Ajmal to Bairstow, 2 runs, full on leg stump, Bairstow aims through midwicket but gets an inside edge towards deep square

12.6

Saeed Ajmal to Bairstow, no run, that looked like the doosra, Bairstow squared up a touch as he plays into the off side

End of over 13 (5 runs) England 99/4 (RR: 7.61)
JM Bairstow    30* (22b 3x4 1x6)      Saeed Ajmal    2-0-7-1
SR Patel    6* (8b)      Aizaz Cheema    3-0-25-0

Afridi back into the attack

13.1

Shahid Afridi to Patel, 1 run, quick delivery, quick footwork and quick hands. Patel steps to leg and cuts out to deep cover

13.2

Shahid Afridi to Bairstow, no run, he also plays back and pushes to cover

13.3

Shahid Afridi to Bairstow, FOUR, power and placement this time...dragged down short from Afridi, the ball sat up and Bairstow pulled it strongly through midwicket

Goes round the wicket

13.4

Shahid Afridi to Bairstow, no run, fired in at the pads and Bairstow doesn't make contact

13.5

Shahid Afridi to Bairstow, 2 runs, wider outside off, Bairstow drives with an open face to play it wide of deep cover

13.6

Shahid Afridi to Bairstow, no run, another quicker, flatter, ball which Bairstow tries to pull but it comes off a bottom edge to short fine leg

These two are forming a base from where England can attempt to launch. But there is quality bowling to come.

End of over 14 (7 runs) England 106/4 (RR: 7.57)
JM Bairstow    36* (27b 4x4 1x6)      Shahid Afridi    3-0-28-1
SR Patel    7* (9b)      Saeed Ajmal    2-0-7-1

14.1

Saeed Ajmal to Patel, 1 run, all three stumps were shown to the bowler as Patel stepped away, but he middled is cut out to the cover sweeper

14.2

Saeed Ajmal to Bairstow, FOUR, that is a classy shot. Ajmal round the wicket, Bairstow uses his feet to come down the pitch outside leg then drives it wide of long-off

14.3

Saeed Ajmal to Bairstow, no run, comes down the pitch again but can only push it back to Ajmal. Cracking little contest

14.4

Saeed Ajmal to Bairstow, 1 run, brings out the reverse sweep, taken from well outside leg through square cover

14.5

Saeed Ajmal to Patel, FOUR, useful edge from Patel to a quick ball outside off. Not sure how deliberate it was, but it raced to third man

14.6

Saeed Ajmal to Patel, no run, beaten this time as he tries to run one into the off side. An appeal for a stumping but no one other than Umar is very interested

End of over 15 (10 runs) England 116/4 (RR: 7.73)
SR Patel    12* (12b 1x4)      Saeed Ajmal    3-0-17-1
JM Bairstow    41* (30b 5x4 1x6)      Shahid Afridi    3-0-28-1

Now then, Gul is on. He has three left.

15.1

Umar Gul to Bairstow, 1 leg bye, homing in on the stumps straight away, Bairstow aims through the leg side and it takes the pad to short third man

15.2

Umar Gul to Patel, 1 run, OUT, breakthrough for Pakistan, brilliant work from Ajmal and not great from Patel. Was neatly worked to deep square and Patel wanted the second. Ajmal produced a pinpoint throw which hit direct and Patel stretched, but didn't dive, for his crease and ended up a few inches short.

SR Patel run out 13 (24m 13b 1x4 0x6) SR: 100.00

A momentum-changing moment

It's Bairstow and Buttler again, although this time Bairstow is already in

15.3

Umar Gul to Buttler, no run, on off stump, pushes his first delivery to backward point

15.4

Umar Gul to Buttler, 1 run, banged in short, Buttler pulls but doesn't really time it out to deep square

15.5

Umar Gul to Bairstow, 1 run, full delivery, driven firmly into the pitch and it bounces over Gul down to long-off

15.6

Umar Gul to Buttler, FOUR, blimey, he drilled that. Now Buttler connects with a handsome drive which beats the chasing deep cover

End of over 16 (8 runs) England 124/5 (RR: 7.75)
JC Buttler    5* (3b 1x4)      Umar Gul    2-0-16-1
JM Bairstow    42* (32b 5x4 1x6)      Saeed Ajmal    3-0-17-1

16.1

Saeed Ajmal to Bairstow, no run, round the wicket, cuts and misses

16.2

Saeed Ajmal to Bairstow, 1 run, comes down the pitch and bunts to long-on

16.3

Saeed Ajmal to Buttler, no run, on middle, hint of turn, defended to the off side

16.4

Saeed Ajmal to Buttler, 2 leg byes, wrong line from Ajmal, outside leg stump and it takes the pad to beat Umar Akmal and trickles towards the boundary before Afridi chases it down

16.5

Saeed Ajmal to Buttler, 1 run, fired in fast and wide of leg as Ajmal spotted Buttler moving around the crease. Buttler responded with a strong sweep

16.6

Saeed Ajmal to Bairstow, 1 run, finishes with a full toss which is worked down the ground

Another excellent day's work from Ajmal

End of over 17 (5 runs) England 129/5 (RR: 7.58)
JM Bairstow    44* (35b 5x4 1x6)      Saeed Ajmal    4-0-20-1
JC Buttler    6* (6b 1x4)      Umar Gul    2-0-16-1

17.1

Umar Gul to Bairstow, no run, a quick yorker just outside off stump which scoots past the timber as Bairstow plays over the top after giving himself room

17.2

Umar Gul to Bairstow, 1 run, speared in towards the pads, Bairstow flicks hard but it comes more off a thick edge out to deep square

17.3

Umar Gul to Buttler, 1 run, gives himself room but can only jab another full delivery into the ground which bounces back towards the keeper

17.4

Umar Gul to Bairstow, no run, superb yorker, Bairstow swings hard but it comes off the bottom of bat back to Gul

17.5

Umar Gul to Bairstow, 1 run, low full toss, just inches away from being perfect, but it only costs a single as Bairstow drives one-handed to long-off

17.6

Umar Gul to Buttler, OUT, the flip fails again for Buttler. Shapes to flick this over short fine leg but, unlike two days ago, doesn't even make contact. You know the rest

JC Buttler b Umar Gul 7 (11m 8b 1x4 0x6) SR: 87.50

Maybe Buttler wants to think about playing straight as well. He has the power.

End of over 18 (3 runs) England 132/6 (RR: 7.33)
     Umar Gul    3-0-19-2
JM Bairstow    46* (39b 5x4 1x6)      Saeed Ajmal    4-0-20-1

The captain comes in at No. 8 but he won't be on strike. Can England reach 150? Cheema with the 19th over

18.1

Aizaz Cheema to Bairstow, 2 runs, starts with a big, wide, full toss which is driven through the covers and Bairstow is rapid between the wickets to make it a couple

Key call from Misbah. Pace not spin. This is more overs than Cheema sometimes gets in a Test innings (I stole that from Alan)

18.2

Aizaz Cheema to Bairstow, 1 run, another full toss which he gets away with as it's driven to long-off

18.3

Aizaz Cheema to Broad, 2 runs, he hasn't pitched one yet, although that isn't always bad in this situation. Broad lofts a low full toss over cover between mid-off and deep cover

18.4

Aizaz Cheema to Broad, OUT, done like kipper. Lovely slower ball and Broad was so early on the shot he was able to turn around and see his stumps broken.

SCJ Broad b Aizaz Cheema 2 (5m 2b 0x4 0x6) SR: 100.00

Valuable dot ball. Momentum swinging back towards Pakistan

18.5

Aizaz Cheema to Swann, no run, excellent stuff, full and swinging into Swann who can only push it back to the bowler

England want even numbers off this ball

18.6

Aizaz Cheema to Swann, 1 run, finishes with a slower one outside off, Swann just holds back long enough to poke it towards backward point and he'll have the strike

End of over 19 (6 runs) England 138/7 (RR: 7.26)
GP Swann    1* (2b)      Aizaz Cheema    4-0-31-1
JM Bairstow    49* (41b 5x4 1x6)      Umar Gul    3-0-19-2

A total of 150 looks a way off now

19.1

Umar Gul to Swann, 1 run, do I need to tell you what this was? OK then. A yorker which is only jabbed to cover

But it gives Bairstow the strike

19.2

Umar Gul to Bairstow, 2 runs, heaved away through the leg side, good running and it takes Bairstow to an excellent fifty - his first at international level. Composed knock.

19.3

Umar Gul to Bairstow, 2 runs, this time a lack of timing helps Bairstow as he clubs a back-of-a-length delivery down the ground and it falls short of long-off

19.4

Umar Gul to Bairstow, no run, Quick. Yorker. Outside leg stump. Swing. Miss. Dot

19.5

Umar Gul to Bairstow, SIX, what a blow! Picked the slower ball, but he didn't swing with huge power yet it carried miles back over long-on

19.6

Umar Gul to Bairstow, 1 run, gets back to yorker-length, Bairstow drives it hard and straight to cover

So England do reach 150. It's a competitive total on this surface. Outstanding effort from Bairstow. Mature, calculating and intelligent. That innings away one way then the other. England will fancy defending this target, but Pakistan have a few strokeplayers. Join us in around 10 minutes for the chase with Alan Gardner.

End of over 20 (12 runs) England 150/7
