Pakistan v England T20I Series - 3rd T20I

England v Pakistan

England won by 5 runs

Mohammad Hafeez will open the bowling...

Here we go. Who is going to finish strongest?

Toss time and Stuart Broad wins again and England will bat first. That's the third toss in succession that Broad has won. As for the teams Pakistan and England are both unchanged from Saturday.

Hello again. Final match of the tour coming up and it's the decider. One series-all and one match-all, this third T20 has plenty riding on it. Can Pakistan confirm their dominance after that Test series romp? Or can England sail back to Blighty with their resurgence established with two one-day series wins? All coming up at 1600 GMT, the toss and team news in around 15 minutes...

Usual suspects with you today, myself, Alex Winter, and Gnasher McGlashan alongside for a bit too to guide you through the action. You're last chance to read our thoughts for a short while, England next in action at the end of March for the Sri Lanka tour. Reports suggest Jonny Bairstow could be on that tour, especially if he puts in another good shift today...

0.1

Mohammad Hafeez to Pietersen, 1 run, down the pitch straight away and pushes comfortably to long-on

0.2

Mohammad Hafeez to Kieswetter, 1 leg bye, well, that was odd...took the pad down the leg side but didn't really seem as though Kieswetter was playing a shot yet the leg-bye is given

0.3

Mohammad Hafeez to Pietersen, no run, pushed back to the power

0.4

Mohammad Hafeez to Pietersen, FOUR, power and placement from Pietersen, gets down to sweep and picks the gap wide of deep square

0.5

Mohammad Hafeez to Pietersen, 1 run, through the leg side again, from outside off stump, but more of a hoick this time which goes through midwicket

Hafeez stalling his action to try and confuse the batsman

0.6

Mohammad Hafeez to Kieswetter, no run, fired in quickly at leg stump, Kieswetter comes down the pitch but it takes the pad to the leg side

End of over 1 (7 runs) England 7/0 (RR: 7.00)
C Kieswetter    0* (2b)      Mohammad Hafeez    1-0-6-0
KP Pietersen    6* (4b 1x4)

1.1

Aizaz Cheema to Pietersen, no run, starts with a full delivery outside off which Pietersen drives sweetly but straight to cover

1.2

Aizaz Cheema to Pietersen, 1 run, drags the length back a touch, Pietersen punches firmly towards mid-off and sets off straight away. Misbah not entirely happy with his fielder

Aizaz Cheema to Kieswetter, no run, beaten by movement back off the surface and a lack of bounce. Scoots past the inside edge and only just misses the off stump

1.4

Aizaz Cheema to Kieswetter, no run, on off stump, Kieswetter gets a stride in and defends back to the bowler

1.5

Aizaz Cheema to Kieswetter, 2 runs, back of a length, Kieswetter comes at the bowler then pulls slightly ungainly through midwicket an deep square does the fielding

1.6

Aizaz Cheema to Kieswetter, 1 run, nearly drags this one on, looking to guide it down to third and gets a bottom edge that flies over leg stump to short fine-leg

Decent start from Pakistan

End of over 2 (4 runs) England 11/0 (RR: 5.50)
C Kieswetter    3* (6b)      Aizaz Cheema    1-0-4-0
KP Pietersen    7* (6b 1x4)      Mohammad Hafeez    1-0-6-0

Early change of bowling as Umar Gul comes on

2.1

Umar Gul to Kieswetter, 2 runs, starts full and is picked up over wide mid-on by Kieswetter but it wasn't out of the middle and only gets half way to the boundary

2.2

Umar Gul to Kieswetter, FOUR, gets more power behind this one, real intent from Kieswetter as he uses his feet then clubs it through straight midwicket

2.3

Umar Gul to Kieswetter, SIX, shot! Wonderful clean strike straight down the ground. Kieswetter on the charge as he charges Gul then drives him over long-off

Pressure on Umar Gul...third man comes up, long-off goes out

2.5

Umar Gul to Kieswetter, no run, backs outside leg stump to give himself room, he middles the drive but picks out cover

KP Pietersen    7* (6b 1x4)      Aizaz Cheema    1-0-4-0

Movement behind the bowler's arm so we have a delay. Just sit down. People in the posh seats. Still no action. This is getting silly.

3.1

Aizaz Cheema to Pietersen, 1 run, following that delay, plenty of action. Kieswetter would have been run out if Cheema had hit the stumps from his follow through after KP edged the ball into his pads

3.2

Aizaz Cheema to Kieswetter, 1 run, another inside edge past the stumps to short fine-leg as he aims to go through the covers

3.3

Aizaz Cheema to Pietersen, 1 run, picks out the fielder, yard either side of midwicket and that was four as Pietersen swung hard at a good-length delivery.

3.4

Aizaz Cheema to Kieswetter, no run, beaten as he aims a flat-footed drive through the off side...good stuff from Cheema

3.5

Aizaz Cheema to Kieswetter, 1 run, back of a length outside off, driven on the up to the left of cover who misses with his shy at the stumps...Kieswetter looked safe

3.6

Aizaz Cheema to Pietersen, 1 run, another one is poorly timed as Pietersen aims to the leg side and it dribbles through midwicket

Lot of effort from Pietersen without much reward

End of over 4 (5 runs) England 28/0 (RR: 7.00)
KP Pietersen    10* (9b 1x4)      Aizaz Cheema    2-0-9-0

4.2

Saeed Ajmal to Kieswetter, no run, down the leg side, clips the pad so escapes a wide call

C Kieswetter c Shoaib Malik b Saeed Ajmal 17 (21m 17b 1x4 1x6) SR: 100.00

A pretty even game so far

5.2

Aizaz Cheema to Bopara, 1 run, blocked into the off side and he's off the mark

5.3

5.4

Aizaz Cheema to Bopara, OUT, gone! Cheema deserved that for a probing spell. Bopara drove and got a thick edge which Umar Akmal took sharply diving to his right. He's dropped easier ones than that

RS Bopara c †Umar Akmal b Aizaz Cheema 1 (4m 2b 0x4 0x6) SR: 50.00

So now Cheema and Gul to finish off...

18.1

Umar Gul to Pietersen, 1 run, outside off, clipped into the off side and they take a run to bring up KP's 50

19.5

Aizaz Cheema to Broad, 1 run, full, dug out down the ground

Last delivery, Pietersen on strike...

19.6

Aizaz Cheema to Pietersen, SIX, oh dear an awful finish from Cheema, getting it all wrong. A waist-high full toss is smashed over midwicket into the terraces. Pietersen holds the pose like a baseball batter and walks off to the applause

Well England do nudge 130 at the end of an innings that was a real struggle for the most part. This is a sluggish surface with no bounce or pace and the slower bowlers enjoyed plenty of success, meaning England's quicker attack may find less joy. But there are plenty of cracks to find and it's all to play for, back in 10 for the Pakistan chase...

End of over 20 (11 runs) England 129/6
KP Pietersen    62* (52b 6x4 1x6)      Aizaz Cheema    4-0-25-1
SCJ Broad    6* (7b)      Umar Gul    4-0-39-0
