Scorecard
Pakistan warmed up for their three-match T20 series against England with a comfortable win over Hong Kong in Dubai. On the day that the first ODIs to be played in Hong Kong were announced, only a fifty from rising star Mark Chapman kept his side in the chase as Pakistan closed the game out with almost three overs to spare.
Only three Hong Kong players made it into double-figures and, after losing two wickets in the first three overs, they were soon behind the required run rate. Chapman combined with opener Anshuman Rath to put on 52 but the first of three run-outs separated them and wickets fell regularly after that point.
Chapman, who made a century on ODI debut last week, struck five fours and two sixes in 50 from 39 balls but was sixth out in the 13th over, one of two wickets for Shahid Afridi, as the Hong Kong lower order subsided.
Pakistan were not allowed to get away after choosing to bat, until Mohammad Rizwan injected some impetus with an unbeaten 55. Hong Kong captain Tanwir Afzal, who was born in Pakistan, started the innings with a maiden and Ahmed Shehzad's miserable run continued when he made a golden duck, lbw to Haseeb Amjad from the first ball of the second over.
Rafatullah Mohmand, approaching an international debut at the age of 39, hit three fours and a six in his 25 but Pakistan were 88 for 5 in the 14th over before they really got going. Rizwan combined with Aamer Yamin for a 50 stand in 26 balls and although Rawalpindi-born Haseeb returned to take two more wickets, a total of 167 for 7 proved plenty.
