Pakistan to host NZ in the UAE

Pakistan will host New Zealand in the UAE for three Tests, five ODIs and a Twenty20 international in November and December, the PCB confirmed on Wednesday.

New Zealand will kickstart their tour with a three-day warm-up game in Sharjah against Pakistan A on November 5. Sharjah and Abu Dhabi will host two ODIs and a Test each, while Dubai will be the venue for the second Test, one-off T20I, and the first ODI.

New Zealand haven't toured Pakistan since 2003-04. In 2002, an explosion outside the teams' hotel killed 14 people and brought the Karachi Test as well as the series to an abrupt halt. International teams have not travelled to Pakistan since March 2009, when a bus transporting the Sri Lankan team to the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore came under gunfire.

The teams last played a bilateral series in 2010-11, when New Zealand hosted Pakistan for three T20Is, two Tests and six ODIs. New Zealand won the T20 series 2-1, but Pakistan clinched the Tests 1-0 with a ten-wicket win in Hamilton, and took the ODIs 3-2.

Should be an easy sweep for Pakistan. NZ are hopeless on these slow-low flat/spinning pitches and an overrated team. Pakistan should try and test out new youngsters. There's no point in relying on someone like Ajmal who won't be around forever and instead can groom in the youngster Raza Hasan who is talent.

It's really good news that this isn't yet another 2 test series. I would like to see Fawad Alam and Haris Sohail (and maybe Umar Akmal) make it to the test team. Also they should try Raza Hassan cuz he is a young spinner who is very good as well as a young fast bowler named Sadaf Hussain. The test squad should be: Ahmed Shehzad, Shan Masood, Azhar Ali, Younis Khan, Misbah-ul-haq, Fawad Alam, Haris Sohail, Umar Akmal, Sarfraz Ahmed, Junaid Khan, Mohammad Talha, Sadaf Hussain, Saeed Ajmal, Abdur Rehman, Raza Hassan. The only problem with this squad is that there is no allrounder.

@Gagg. New Zealand also toured Pakistan in Apr-May 2002 for 3 ODIs and one test ( one test was cancelled), and in Nov-Dec 2003 for 5 ODIs. So you missed two tours. From the current squad, Brendan McCullum played in 2003 in Pakistan. Vettori also played in 2003, though might not be playing currently but still not retired.

Here we go again, Most of the time Pakistan is only allowed to play Test cricket against the lower ranking teams, the higher ranking teams cant risk losing their ranking points if they lost to Pakistan in UAE, as did England in the last series by losing 3-0 and lost their Number 1 position. Let us hope Pakistan win against the Aussies to bump up their ranking.

  • POSTED BY on | May 8, 2014, 10:48 GMT

I disagree to all who says Pakistan have best bowling attack. Even now Ajmal is losing his magic and goes for many runs and I don't want to say about fast bowling. Irfan has fitness problem and Junaid is always axed in big matches as we already saw in t20 WC.

Cpt.Meanster; pakistan team was ever more weak when they last toured NZ in jan 2011 after turbulent period of 2010. and was ranked 6th. That time no one gave them a chance in tests especially. but they managed to win both test and odi series convincingly. though they should play this series in NZ as WC is around the corner.

great test series, pakistan is a fantastic team with one of the best bowling line ups in the world, it will be a massive test for our guys especially in the uae but one i think we are finnally up for, i think they will be a tougher prospect than india purely because there bowling is so superior, never understood why pakistan produces so many devastating seamers while india produces as many quality seamers as we do batsmen, which isn't many, pakistan will be firm favourites for sure but we have a team that can produce an upset. love picking squads so heres who i'd take 1.latham 2.neesham 3.williamson 4.taylor 5.mccullum 6.anderson 7.watling 8.vettori 9.sohdi 10. southee 11.boult 12.wagner 13.guptill 14.henry. would love to see an experiment with neesham opening, he was always a top order bat through the age grades, averages over 150 with the bat with an impecable technique and is seriously talented better than fulton or rutherford, might not work but love to see if it does.

series is hosted in UAE to give more "home" matches to Pakistan. Before this series there was only one home series for Pak in 2014 (against Australia)

Really great challenge for New Zealand -- 3 tests and 5 ODIs, a proper tour. The UAE pitches look pretty good - flat and on the slow side, about what you'd expect.

Hesson, I'd go with this side ;)

    1.Rutherford, 2. Latham 3. Williamson, 4. Taylor, 5. McCullum, 6. Anderson, 7. Watling, 8. Vettori, 9. Sodhi, 10. Southee, 11. Boult (Neesham 12th man).

By these two series Pak vs Aus and Pak vs NZ, Pakistan have chance to make big changes for Worldcup for example, to change captain etc etc Best of Luck for Pakistan .......We Love Pakistan

Why not one Off ODI against UAE or Afghanistan . they have ODI status and will be playing in World Cup . Pakistan always help associates they should try and keep Tri Series . With Associate .

  • POSTED BY on | May 8, 2014, 4:20 GMT

Best of luck for Pakistan Cricket lets see what happens in future will this tour help pakistan in ICC WORLD CUP 2015 preparation or remains fruitless.

  • POSTED BY on | May 8, 2014, 3:47 GMT

It will be a competitive series. NZ has some excellent players and some of whom, recently played in the UAE, therefore aware of the types of pitches they have to deal with. I also think, NZ has matured a lot as a team. Brendon has lead the team well and performed really well against India. He definitely, deserved that award from Cricinfo, for his 300 test knock, not Dhawan. Good luck to both sides.

  • POSTED BY saifkhanBD on | May 8, 2014, 2:58 GMT

Cpt.Meanster. Don't get so excited mate. Anyway, same thing applies to NZ, who will also get to find out how they perform away from home. Doing well and winning away from home is something which most teams needs to work on, especially India, who have failed to win a single series in their last two tours. Lastly, Pakistan are scheduled to play an ODI series in NZ, before the world cup. So, we will find out how they perform. Take it easy

  • POSTED BY saifkhanBD on | May 8, 2014, 1:03 GMT

Good to see a proper test series taking place. Can't stand t20's anymore. Anyway, Kiwis are a good team and they have vastly improved in recent years. It will be a tough series. Being an Indian/Kiwi, I will be supporting both sides. All the best lads.

  • POSTED BY android_user on | May 8, 2014, 0:35 GMT

such agreat series between pak vs nz.also very big testing for kiwies.to face great spins .best of luck Pakistan. long live Pakistan.

  • POSTED BY Cpt.Meanster on | May 7, 2014, 19:59 GMT

Pakistan will never improve as a team if they keep playing on the DEAD pitches of the UAE. They should have toured NZ. Only then they will know about their standard. India toured NZ and got owned. Pakistan have an even worse team than India with only the bowling looking good. Now since this series is played in UAE, Pakistan will win easily and all their supporters will think they are world no 1.

  • POSTED BY android_user on | May 7, 2014, 18:27 GMT

  • POSTED BY android_user on | May 7, 2014, 14:48 GMT

full series. it is pakistans home series so pak will host. but if i am not wrong pakistan did hosted a series against NZ in NZ . so it would have been better that pcb host this series in NZ.

anyway will be a good series.NZ will have to perform extra well. and pakistan will try to repeat good diaplay in uae
