Pakistan v South Africa T20I Series - 2nd T20I

Pakistan v South Africa

South Africa won by 6 wickets (with 8 balls remaining)

I am Nitin Sundar, starting off commentary today and Sid Ravindran will join me later in the game. Sriram Veera is on the bulletin and Sanjay Murari on scoring. Pakistan's openers are walking out. Can they pull one back here? Albie Morkel opens the attack.

19.55 Sajid sends in a factoid which I haven't been able to verify: "Abu Dhabi's real name is Abu Zahbi becose in Arabic there is no DHA." Mohammad replies: "@ Sajid, there's not "Z" in Arabic either, its "Abu Dabi" with an accent, hard to explain in Roman Arabic though." Roman Arabic? Boy, you learn something new everyday! Naveed: "With all due respect to Sajid, its the opposite. There is no ZHA in Arabic and therefore the real name is Abu Dhabi, However, in Pakistan people calls it Abu Zhabi becasue there is ZHA in Urdu." Ok, we have had views, counterviews and interjections. So now the topic is closed!

Rajesh: "Why isn't Davey Jacobs picked for the T20 series? Such an explosive talent that we saw in CLT20. I would prefer to see him instead of Bosman." Jacobs was one of the stars of the CLT20, opening in an unconventional but mighty effective fashion for Warriors. Would have been great to see him here. Several Pakistan fans are writing in, asking for Imran Nazir in place of Imran Farhat.

19.48 Talking of Shoaib's run-up - I was in the stands in Chennai, circa 1998 when Shoaib was running in from the Anna Pavilion end. Boy, that was some sight! Pounding in a mile, aggressive intent writ all over that face, with the hair streaming behind before he would unleash stuff faster than anything ever seen on a cricket field. That was the original Shoaib, young and before injuries, hurling thunderbolts without a care in the world. That was the real deal. More so, when you also got to see Wasim, Waqar and Saqlain operate along with him!

Shoaib Akhtar on air: "I am very good.. very happy as usual! Everyone seems to be very concerned about my body, except me. I try to bowl smartly, bowl many dot balls, and bowl balls that get people out since I am not a containing bowler." Wow, he's said everything there! "Did I not cross 150 kph last night? I have been bowling very fast for 18 years now. Shortening the run-up has helped me conserve energy and become more complete as a bowler. I was bowling 95-96 mph in England. My pace is there, I haven't lost touch."

Amaresh: "Where in the world is Roelof Van Der Merwe, I'm mighty concerned about my former team mate at Stretford, surely South Africa need a spinner apart from Botha for the World Cup." Roelof did not make Bangalore's squad for the Champions League. Does seem unlikely that SA will use two spinners too often in any format.

19.32 Well well, another game for Shahzaib Hasan, who struggled yesterday. Once again, Afridi will be key - can he last longer at the crease tonight? Pakistan have the attack to defend 140-150, so their batsmen need to make it happen really. Misbah-ul-Haq and Abdul Razzaq are the other senior Pakistan players who will look to make amends for last night. South Africa's youngsters will be eager to impress again - watch out for Colin Ingram and David Miller in particular. Or possibly a blitz from Bosman. Mike Haysman says Kallis and Steyn are fit to play the ODIs, so that's good news for SA.

Toss: Pakistan choose to bat again. "We had a good, positive team meeting, so hopefully we will have good results. The team is unchanged."

Botha: "The boys are keen to go out and repeat the performance. Hopefully we can do the same." South Africa are unchanged too.

19.25 local Hello and a warm welcome to the second Twenty20 between South Africa and Pakistan. And when we say warm, we mean it. The players sweated buckets in the first game out there in hot and humid Abu Dhabi, and tonight should be no different. The question is, can Pakistan find a way to resolve their dysfunctional batting. Toss in five minutes.

0.1

JA Morkel to Shahzaib Hasan, no run, back of a length outside off and moving away, Shahzaib lets it go.

0.2

JA Morkel to Shahzaib Hasan, no run, better line, just outside off and Shahzaib is in no position, half forward, half back and feeling for it as it carries through into AB's gloves chest high

0.3

JA Morkel to Shahzaib Hasan, FOUR, shot. Albie lands it on a good length again, but it was on off stump. Shahzaib has the tendence to reach across to off stump with his trigger movement. This time he got inside the line and clipped it off the pads through square leg.

0.4

JA Morkel to Shahzaib Hasan, 1 run, and a tennis shot this time. Back of a length again, and Shahzaib tries to cross-bat slap it straight from the crease. No timing, and lucky to elude mid on running across

0.5

JA Morkel to Imran Farhat, 2 runs, hint of inward movement this time as Farhat reaches out to a fuller delivery and squeezes it off the outside edge to third man for a couple

0.6

JA Morkel to Imran Farhat, no run, gets behind the line this time and defends confidently back to the bowler

End of over 1 (7 runs) Pakistan 7/0 (RR: 7.00)

Shahzaib Hasan    5* (4b 1x4)

Tsotsobe comes on. He was very impressive last night.

1.1

Tsotsobe to Shahzaib Hasan, 1 run, begins with an inducker straigtening into Shahzaib from off stump and he ends up playing all around his thrust out front pad. Makes contact in the nick of time to pick a single to square leg

1.2

Tsotsobe to Imran Farhat, no run, shape away from Farhat from well outside off stump. Farhat lets it go

1.3

Tsotsobe to Imran Farhat, no run, extra bounce from Tsotsobe, who is making a conscious effort to hit the deck hard. Farhat looks to cut but it got big on him and he swished at thin air. Thuds into AB's gloves.

1.4

Tsotsobe to Imran Farhat, 1 run, fuller and on the pads, Farhat was late on the shot but managed to check drive to long on for one

1.5

Tsotsobe to Shahzaib Hasan, OUT, Shahzaib is gone, betraying the same technical issues that were on display yesterday. Not even close to driving length as Tsotsobe lands it back of a length and looks to angle it across Shahzaib. As is his wont, Shahzaib plonks the right foot across instead of forward and drives without conviction. Ends up making contact early and scooping it over midwicket. Botha runs back and takes a good catch.

Shahzaib Hasan c Botha b Tsotsobe 6 (7m 6b 1x4 0x6) SR: 100.00

1.6

Tsotsobe to Imran Farhat, no run, Farhat lets another short ball go outside off to end the over

End of over 2 (2 runs) Pakistan 9/1 (RR: 4.50)
Imran Farhat    3* (6b)      LL Tsotsobe    1-0-2-1
Mohammad Hafeez    0* (0b)      JA Morkel    1-0-7-0

2.1

JA Morkel to Mohammad Hafeez, 3 runs, Hafeez begins with a pleasing bit of timing. Albie lands it back of a length on off stump and Hafeez eases into a cover drive that was more touch than hit. Easy three as it holds up in the outfield

2.2

JA Morkel to Imran Farhat, 1 run, Farhat pushes a length ball straight to mid off for a single, Morne throws the stumps down at the bowler's end, but Farhat is in

2.3

JA Morkel to Mohammad Hafeez, 1 run, another check drive into the covers for a single. That's an improvement from yesterday, when Pakistan struggled to hit second gear, shifting jerkily between first and fifth.

2.4

JA Morkel to Imran Farhat, FOUR, whump. Farhat reaches out and flat-bats a length ball angling across him over mid off. That was timed really well

2.5

JA Morkel to Imran Farhat, no run, slower ball, Farhat was waiting and eased it off the face square on the off side

2.6

JA Morkel to Imran Farhat, no run, short ball to end the over and Farhat timed the pull shot well, in front of square, but failed to place it away from midwicket

End of over 3 (9 runs) Pakistan 18/1 (RR: 6.00)
Imran Farhat    8* (10b 1x4)      JA Morkel    2-0-16-0
Mohammad Hafeez    4* (2b)      LL Tsotsobe    1-0-2-1

3.1

Tsotsobe to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, slow inducker at 119 kph coming into Hafeez who leans out and defends gingerly to the leg side

3.2

Tsotsobe to Mohammad Hafeez, FOUR, that's been creamed. Hafeez leans his front foot across, gets close to the pitch of an over-pitched ball outside off and then freed his arms to send it flying through the covers. In the air, but he picked the gap to perfection.

3.3

Tsotsobe to Mohammad Hafeez, FOUR, another classy shot from Hafeez. Tsotsobe brings it in from off stump and it seemed like there wasn't much Hafeez could do with it except defend. He waited for the movement and then turned the wrists to send it fine and past short fine leg for four

3.4

Tsotsobe to Mohammad Hafeez, 1 run, back of a length outside off and Hafeez punches down the ground for a single. Not very well timed

3.5

Tsotsobe to Imran Farhat, 1 run, Farhat drives wide of mid off and takes off for another single. Bosman his the stumps again, but Farhat was well in

3.6

Tsotsobe to Mohammad Hafeez, 1 run, well bowled, slow off cutter breaking across Hafeez takes his outside edge as he fends outside off, but it does not carry to the solitary slip.

End of over 4 (11 runs) Pakistan 29/1 (RR: 7.25)
Mohammad Hafeez    14* (7b 2x4)      LL Tsotsobe    2-0-13-1
Imran Farhat    9* (11b 1x4)      JA Morkel    2-0-16-0

Morne comes on now.

4.1

M Morkel to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, pitched up on middle and leg, Hafeez drives nicely but straight to mid on

4.2

M Morkel to Mohammad Hafeez, OUT, and that's the end of Hafeez's innings. Morne holds it back outside off and forces Hafeez to steer from the back foot. Should I cut? Should I steer? Hafeez's mind was not made as the ball took inside edge and rammed into the stumps. On the corridor always does the trick - well bowled by Morne.

Mohammad Hafeez b M Morkel 14 (10m 9b 2x4 0x6) SR: 155.55

Misbah gets a promotion.

4.3

M Morkel to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, shade of away movement to the new batsman from outside off. Misbah plays cautiously off the back foot into the off side

4.4

M Morkel to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, shorter this time and Misbah is more forthright with his footwork as he gets back and steers it to point

4.5

M Morkel to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, Morne gets it to cut into the batsman from outside off and Misbah plays all over it. Dribbles off the pads into the off side

4.6

M Morkel to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, angled into Misbah again, and he gets inside the line and works it straight to square leg

End of over 5 (wicket maiden) Pakistan 29/2 (RR: 5.80)
Misbah-ul-Haq    0* (4b)      M Morkel    1-1-0-1
Imran Farhat    9* (11b 1x4)      LL Tsotsobe    2-0-13-1

5.1

Tsotsobe to Imran Farhat, OUT, Oh my. Farhat has somehow managed to play a shot uglier than the one he out playing last night. Another slowish off cutter from Tsotsobe, 122 kph, but Farhat's batting apparatus was pre-programmed to go for the shovel over the leg side. It did not seem like he was even looking at the ball. In fact, his eyes were looking at cow corner when he finished his bat swing.. All this well before the ball came through from a length and crashed into leg stump

Imran Farhat b Tsotsobe 9 (25m 12b 1x4 0x6) SR: 75.00

5.2

Tsotsobe to Umar Akmal, no run, Umar gets behind the line and defends his first ball to the off side

5.3

Tsotsobe to Umar Akmal, no run, whoa, 129 kph but that ball took off from a length as Umar reached out and looked to cover drive. Missed his edge though

5.4

Tsotsobe to Umar Akmal, 1 run, this one is on the stumps and Umar goes back in the crease to work it off the pads to square leg

5.5

Tsotsobe to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, Misbah goes back and pushes into the covers to get off the mark with a single

5.6

Tsotsobe to Umar Akmal, FOUR, lucky. Tsotsobe's change in pace is having Pakistan in some strife here. This one was floated at 126 kph outside off and Umar was decieved into playing the square drive early. It went in the air, but just away from point and through to the boundary

End of over 6 (6 runs) Pakistan 35/3 (RR: 5.83)
Umar Akmal    5* (4b 1x4)      LL Tsotsobe    3-0-19-2

Botha comes on.

6.1

Botha to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, tossed up and turning in from off to leg, Misbah can't work it past Botha

6.2

Botha to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, OUT, run out appeal and Umar Akmal is on his way. Shorter and flatter from Misbah who turns it towards long leg. They take a single, but Umar wanted more. He was halfway down when he realised Misbah was not thinking of the suicidal second. He turned back, but could not beat the throw and was well short when AB broke the stumps

Umar Akmal run out 5 (5m 4b 1x4 0x6) SR: 125.00

Afridi comes out now. Pakistan need something very special from him here. This is real trouble.

6.3

Botha to Shahid Afridi, 1 run, well, he bashed the first ball for six yesterday, but chooses a far more non-violent option today. Driven robustly into the covers for one

6.4

Botha to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, Misbah stays in the crease and works it back to the bowler

6.5

Botha to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, Misbah is getting stuck again, pushed back by a quicker one and he just about gets bat on it and plays it back to Botha

6.6

Botha to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, lovely bit of loop and dip from Botha. Slower through the air and Misbah was very early into the shot. Rapped on the pads, but he was well forward and that may have saved him

End of over 7 (2 runs) Pakistan 37/4 (RR: 5.28)
Misbah-ul-Haq    2* (10b)      J Botha    1-0-2-0
Shahid Afridi    1* (1b)      LL Tsotsobe    3-0-19-2

Kangan: "This Tsotsobe guy reminds me Chaminda Vaas of late. Doing things without much pace." Rusty comes on.

7.1

Theron to Shahid Afridi, 2 runs, slow and pitched up on middle, Afridi picks the pace and line early and whips it safely through midwicket for a couple

7.2

Theron to Shahid Afridi, OUT, Despair and dismay as Afridi goes and Pakistan implode spectacularly here. Afridi's eyes light up at an offering floated full and outside off. He looks to square drive and ends up scooping it high instead of far. Deep cover settles under it.

Shahid Afridi c Smith b Theron 3 (3m 3b 0x4 0x6) SR: 100.00

7.3

Theron to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, good length, jags in at 127 kph and Misbah was looking prone as he tried to play off the back foot. Somehow manages to get some bat to the leg side and pick a single

7.4

Theron to Abdul Razzaq, no run, Razzaq stays back this time and defends an off cutter back to the bowler

7.5

Theron to Abdul Razzaq, no run, back of a length outside off again and Razzaq stays back to check drive to the off side

7.6

Theron to Abdul Razzaq, 1 run, finally times one well, crisply off the middle as he plays the backfoot cover drive. There is protection though and the sweeper keeps him to a single

End of over 8 (4 runs) Pakistan 41/5 (RR: 5.12)
Abdul Razzaq    1* (3b)      J Theron    1-0-4-1
Misbah-ul-Haq    3* (11b)      J Botha    1-0-2-0

8.1

Botha to Abdul Razzaq, 1 run, Razzaq plays back to Botha - remember he was owned by a Botha floater yesterday - but picks the spin this time and plays to cover

8.2

Botha to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, Misbah plays inside the line to a floater this time and misses outside edging it by a whisker

8.3

Botha to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, another floater, and another fumble from Misbah as he closes the face early and gets a leading edge

8.4

Botha to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, again a leading edge as he closes the face and picks a single square

8.5

Botha to Abdul Razzaq, no run, Razzaq is decidedly playing back here and plays out a length ball to the off side

8.6

Botha to Abdul Razzaq, no run, tossed up on middle and Razzaq looks to tickle it fine, but can't elude short fine leg

End of over 9 (2 runs) Pakistan 43/5 (RR: 4.77)
Abdul Razzaq    2* (6b)      J Botha    2-0-4-0
Misbah-ul-Haq    4* (14b)      J Theron    1-0-4-1

Theron to Misbah-ul-Haq, FOUR, edged and just wide of Botha at slip. Misbah is struggling with balls on a length outside off and ends up fishing unconvincingly again, but this time picks four for his efforts

9.2

Theron to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, full on middle and Misbah flicks uppishly through midwicket for one more

9.3

Theron to Abdul Razzaq, 1 run, back of a length and rising into Razzaq who stays back and steers it through the covers for one

9.4

Theron to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, Theron keeps it outside off stump and Misbah looks to run it to the left of point. Can't get it past the fielder though

9.5

Theron to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 wide, slips down the leg and it is wide

9.5

Theron to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, very slow slower ball, 103 kph, and Misbah waits an eternity before the off cutter reaches him. He eventually works it square on the leg side for one

9.6

Theron to Abdul Razzaq, 1 run, Razzaq slices and has a slice of luck. Back of a length in the corridor, and like Hafeez, Razzaq was caught amidships with his cut shot. Inside edge somehow misses the stumps and runs to fine leg

End of over 10 (9 runs) Pakistan 52/5 (RR: 5.20)
Abdul Razzaq    4* (8b)      J Theron    2-0-13-1
Misbah-ul-Haq    10* (18b 1x4)      J Botha    2-0-4-0

10.1

Botha to Abdul Razzaq, no run, flighted on off and Razzaq drives without timing straight to cover

10.3

Botha to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, Misbah reaches outside off and works it with the spin to the leg side for one

10.4

Botha to Abdul Razzaq, no run, floater outside off, Razzaq gropes without a clue and misses. AB appeals for a catch, but Razzaq was just not good enough to edge this

10.5

Botha to Abdul Razzaq, 1 wide, another wide, this one slides down the leg

10.5

Botha to Abdul Razzaq, no run, sliding donw the pads again and Razzaq glances it fine but for no runs.

10.6

Botha to Abdul Razzaq, no run, change in angle and change in trajectory. Complete befuddlement. Razzaq flails without conviction as another floater drifts past him from round the wicket.

End of over 11 (3 runs) Pakistan 55/5 (RR: 5.00)

11.1

M Morkel to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, full on the pads and Misbah flicks it square for a single

11.2

M Morkel to Abdul Razzaq, 1 run, off cutter cramps Razzaq completely as he hangs back. Ends up playing it to the leg side without any power and they take the single once Morne fails to stop it on his follow through

11.3

M Morkel to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, sliding down the leg and Misbah glances fine for another single

11.4

M Morkel to Abdul Razzaq, no run, good bouncer, pushes Razzaq back and forces him to let it go as it whizzes past at good pace and with good carry

11.5

M Morkel to Abdul Razzaq, no run, another bouncer, whistles past Razzaq who hangs back and does well to let it go

11.6

M Morkel to Abdul Razzaq, 1 run, makes contact this time to a ball that was not as short as the previous ones. Razzaq angles it off the face to third man

Botha to Abdul Razzaq, 1 run, he picks a single this time, working it to the leg side

12.3

Botha to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, Misbah unfurls a reverse sweep, makes good contact but can't beat short third man

13.4

13.5

M Morkel to Abdul Razzaq, 1 run, worked off the backfoot through point for another single. Pakistan need to step a gear up here. This is a decent recovery

13.6

M Morkel to Misbah-ul-Haq, 2 leg byes, Misbah gets inside the line and misses the glance. Was he really playing a shot there? It goes fine off the pads and they pick a couple of leg byes, so the umpire deemed it an attempted shot.

End of over 14 (5 runs) Pakistan 74/5 (RR: 5.28)

Albie comes into the attack now.

14.1

14.2

JA Morkel to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, Misbah chips away and makes room to go through the off side. It was full and on the stumps and he pulled out a cover drive into the deep. Can't quite find the gap

14.3

JA Morkel to Abdul Razzaq, 1 run, slower ball at 110 kph and Razzaq waits to make good contact with the cut. He sent it over the top, but the lack of pace meant it wasn't timed too well. Single to sweeper cover

14.4

JA Morkel to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, Misbah plays another one of those poorly timed pull shots, like we saw yesterday. Single to deep midwicket

14.5

JA Morkel to Abdul Razzaq, SIX, Razzaq goes bang! Length ball outside off, Razzaq moves the front foot away and launches this into the Abu Dhabi night. It is taken 15 rows behind wide long off. Pity for South Africa, they did not have a fielder there. Monster hit that.

14.6

JA Morkel to Abdul Razzaq, OUT, and gone. Anti-climax from Razzaq as he drives a high full toss straight into mid off's hands. Done in by his lack of conviction - he was caught in two minds, unclear whether to go over the top or along the ground. He did neither. Simple catch and Pakistan lose a big wicket

15.1

Tsotsobe to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 leg bye, slower ball, comes in sharply as Misbah looks for a late cut. Runs off the pads wide of AB de Villiers and they run a leg bye

15.2

Tsotsobe to Zulqarnain Haider, no run, Haider reaches well out to cover Tsotsobe's length, but still can't get there. Works it softly to cover

15.3

Tsotsobe to Zulqarnain Haider, no run, stays back this time to an offcutter and works it into cover, and runs straight down for a nothing run. Misbah sent him back early enough though.

15.4

Tsotsobe to Zulqarnain Haider, no run, Tsotsobe has hit the moving target here. Haider was not sure which way to go as Tsotsobe slipped in a bouncer. The batsman was going back when the ball came on from back of a length and thudded into his right shoulder.

15.5

Tsotsobe to Zulqarnain Haider, no run, well, Haider is looking out of his depth here. Runs down the crease to make something happen, but cannot make contact as it whist;es over the stumps from a length

15.6

Tsotsobe to Zulqarnain Haider, 1 run, and nearly runs himself out now. Worked straight to cover and he bolts for another risky single. Direct hit would have had him, but Duminy from point missed at the bowlers' end.

16.5

JA Morkel to Zulqarnain Haider, 1 run, inventive edge from Haider who jumps out of the crease, gets a short ball, still looks to steer it and ends up running it very fine on the off side

16.6

JA Morkel to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, Misbah tries to get outside leg stump this time and Albie follows him with the line. Misbah has no room to do anything and chips it into his pads

End of over 17 (5 runs) Pakistan 91/6 (RR: 5.35)
Misbah-ul-Haq    18* (30b 1x4)      JA Morkel    4-0-31-1
Zulqarnain Haider    5* (9b)      LL Tsotsobe    4-0-20-2

Theron comes on.

17.1

Theron to Zulqarnain Haider, 1 run, Haider stays beside the line and drives into the covers off the back foot for one more. Where are the boundaries?

17.2

Theron to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, perfect yorker just outside off and Misbah can't get under it again. Can only manage to play it back to the bowler. Sickening sound when the ball makes contact with the bottom of the bat.

17.3

Theron to Misbah-ul-Haq, 2 runs, another laboured pull, almost all the way to the boundary at square leg, but he still can't find a boundary. Misbah has gone into a rut once again.

17.4

Theron to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, full and wide outside off and he makes reasonable contact this time, but square drives's sraight to sweeper cover

17.5

Theron to Zulqarnain Haider, FOUR, Haider finally hits the boundary with a workman-like cover drive to a length ball coming in from off stump. Laboured is the word again, but this one was placed to perfection and he got four for it

17.6

Theron to Zulqarnain Haider, 2 runs, and the straight drive this time, full on the stumps and Haider punches it well down the ground. Bosman from lon on runs across, slides and saves a couple

End of over 18 (10 runs) Pakistan 101/6 (RR: 5.61)
Zulqarnain Haider    12* (12b 1x4)      J Theron    3-0-23-1
Misbah-ul-Haq    21* (33b 1x4)      JA Morkel    4-0-31-1

18.1

M Morkel to Misbah-ul-Haq, SIX, At long last, Misbah makes good contact with one. This is what he is good at - using the crease to change the lengths. This was a fullish slower ball, but Misbah went well back and on his knees to get under it and shovel it over midwicket. Lands on the boundary skirting and it is six

That's Pakistan's slowest 100 in T20s. Breaking their record from last night.

18.2

M Morkel to Misbah-ul-Haq, FOUR, and again, Misbah goes back and across to get inside the line and send a length ball sliding towards leg stump, scurrying down to fine leg with a smart little glance

The crowd finally finds it voice.

18.3

M Morkel to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, jumps away to the leg side this time and steers a short ball at shoulder height down to third man for a single

18.4

M Morkel to Zulqarnain Haider, 1 run, Haider does well to turn the strike over. Worked into the covers and off they go for one more

18.5

M Morkel to Misbah-ul-Haq, 1 run, short ball and Misbah continues to time the pull shot. Straight to Tsotsobe at square leg in the circle and they get a single

18.6

M Morkel to Zulqarnain Haider, 1 wide, Morne slips one down the leg and ends up conceding an extra

Seven balls to go. Can they get to 130-135?

18.6

M Morkel to Zulqarnain Haider, 1 run, backs away and inside-outs a half volley outside off over the covers. It is fielded in the deep and he picks a single

End of over 19 (15 runs) Pakistan 116/6 (RR: 6.10)
Zulqarnain Haider    14* (14b 1x4)      M Morkel    4-1-22-1
Misbah-ul-Haq    33* (37b 2x4 1x6)      J Theron    3-0-23-1

19.1

Theron to Zulqarnain Haider, no run, Improvisation unlimited from Haider who backs away and goes down on a knee before the ball comes. Fails to make contact though and Misbah remains at the bowlers' end.

19.2

Theron to Zulqarnain Haider, 3 runs, lovely shot and superb fielding. Very full on the stumps and Haider did well to stay back and convert it into a half volley. Drives it into the gap in the covers and Duminy had to put in a dive running across from long off. Three runs taken, Misbah to face.

19.3

Theron to Misbah-ul-Haq, OUT, Remember the 2007 World T20 final? Want to see an action replay of the last ball? Here it is. Misbah moves across to off stump, sets himself up for the lap shot. Misbah executes the lap shot. All is hunky dory until he realises he hasn't managed to get it over short fine leg. Sreesanth was half way down to the boundary on that fateful day. Albie was inside the circle today. But Misbah needs to go - stays the same.

Misbah-ul-Haq c JA Morkel b Theron 33 (65m 38b 2x4 1x6) SR: 86.84

19.4

Theron to Umar Gul, OUT, From one yorker specialist to another: "See you later." Theron kept it full, it landed close to Gul's toes and crashed into the the base of the stumps as Gul played all over it.

Umar Gul b Theron 0 (1m 1b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

Theron's on a hat-trick as Ajmal walks out. Another yorker?

19.5

Theron to Saeed Ajmal, 1 run, no. It is a length ball outside off and Ajmal manages to work it off the face to the off side for one

19.6

Theron to Zulqarnain Haider, OUT, Stumps everywhere. Theron hits the castle again, this time it is not a yorker and it did not need to be. Haider looks to slam a length ball on off stump across the line and misses. It crashes into off stump.

Zulqarnain Haider b Theron 17 (23m 17b 1x4 0x6) SR: 100.00

Pakistan have improved on yesterday's effort. Sadly, they have improved by just one run. That said, they have the bowling to make this sticky for South Africa. Shoaib was excellent yesterday, without support from the other end. Can the others - Gul, Afridi, Ajmal, Razzaq etc. - step up tonight? Chase coming in 10 minutes and Sid Ravindran will bring it to you. Meanwhile, Sriram Veera's updated bulletin will be here in a bit. While we wait for the chase, it is as good a time as any to add us to your twitter account. Follow us at @ESPNcricinfo.
