Thats it from us at ESPNcricinfo. This is Abhishek Purohit signing off, along with Venkat Raghav. Do join us for the third day's play tomorrow. Cheers!

So that will be stumps on the second day. AB de Villiers became the highest individual scorer for South Africa, going past Graeme Smith, who then declared on 584 for 9. Hafeez fell in the first over, but Azhar Ali and Taufeeq Umar have survived more than a 100 deliveries till close of play. Pakistan will look to them to carry on tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Osman Samiuddin will have his bulletin in shortly. Have a read.

Haroon: "It is indeed very dark outside with too many clouds, this might be the end of play, expect it to be more darker in the next 10 minutes."

While cricket is stopped by the elements, there is live action coming up from the EPL. Blackburn Rovers take on Aston Villa (1330 GMT) and Fulham take on Manchester City(1600 GMT) today. Follow all the action on ESPNsoccernet.

Bad light stopped play The umpires think it's gone too dark to continue, and off go the players.

sudhir: "gpraj says test cricket is at its peak, the reality is that its far from its peak. Especially in the sub continent where pitches are flat and unsporting. Yes thats where the 3 big scores you mentioned were scored. I bet we wont see any triple in the ashes."

End of over 18 (13 runs) Pakistan 59/1
Azhar Ali    34* (58b 5x4)      DW Steyn    7-0-27-1
Taufeeq Umar    16* (48b 2x4)      M Morkel    7-3-15-0

Pakistan batsmen walk out to the middle. Morne to start off proceedings. All set for the third day's play. This is Abhishek Purohit, your commentator, and Venkar Raghav is on scoring.

Morne Morkel to Pommie on Ten Cricket: "Me and AB were housemates for three years in Pretoria, and I enjoyed batting with him yesterday."

Amir Mir tries to simplify things: "Simple tasks for both teams. Pakistan need to build big partnerships, and try not lose wickets. Whereas, RSA need to get quick wickets and try and stay on top throughout the match. Simple!"

Aqib Javed, Pakistan's bowling coach, tells Ramiz Raja that it is very difficult to take 20 wickets on such pitches. "I am working with Umar Gul on his skills with the new ball, till now his focus was the semi-new ball and the old ball. He now has more responsibility in the absence of Asif and Amir. There is a lot of young talent coming in the National Cricket Academy, now with visiting teams not coming to Pakistan, we need to increase our focus to ensure the lads get proper exposure."

Don't forget to head over to our Facebook page and share your thoughts on how this Test match could pan out, or on anything that's happening in the world of cricket. But no abuse please!

Some Premier League news - Rovers beat Aston Villa 2-0, and it was a 4-1 victory for Manchester City over Fulham. Head over to ESPNsoccernet for all the latest football news.

Pommie Mbangwa on Ten Cricket says that the pitch looks a lot browner today. He reckons that it will be the best day for batting. There are a few cracks about, but he thinks they should not cause any trouble, however, they could open up as the game progresses. "Hard work for the fast bowlers." Not much rough for the spinners to work with, but there should be more purchase later on. Pakistan should be pleased with Pommie's verdict.

Ramiz Raja on air says Pakistan missed a trick by not playing Saeed Ajmal, and need to work on their strategy and planning. He thinks there should be people in and around the team who can read the game better. "They desperately need a batting consultant, who can give the batsmen a positive and different perspective."

Azhar Ali and Taufeeq Umar ensured Pakistan ended day two only one wicket down. Can they continue the fightback today? South Africa would look to Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel for some early wickets.
