Pakistan v South Africa T20I Series - 2nd T20I

Pakistan v South Africa

South Africa won by 6 runs

So Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock will be opening for South Africa, with the Giant to open the bowling. All the commentators are trying to raise the hopes of the viewers, hoping that a similar performance from two days ago is not repeated. Will be interesting to see how Pakistan chase, depending on what South Africa put up, of course.

Danny Archer: "I think not enough credit is being given to all the hard word the South Africans have put in to their game. Go get 'em Proteas!!!"

waraich: "It is true, Pakistani players need to be psychologically strong...."

7.50pm: Match begins in ten minutes. Continue sending in your feedback and thoughts.

Gopal: "The main problem with PAK team is insecuritie among team mates, real reason is the fear to lose place in team. If PAK can stop replacing players, captain, coach, manager and even sometimes PCB chief after every lost series, then you can see top class performance by this very same PAK team."

Downthelegside: "The only reason Sohail Tanvir is being preferred over Junaid Khan is that the Pakistan management/selectors consider him the Pakistani version of Garry Sobers, Ian Botham and Kallis."

ABKhan: "Could anyone be kind enough to tell me the reason of Shoib Malik's inclusion despite his miserable performance in international cricket for last few years? Also whats the reason we are still having Tanvir and Hafeez in the team??"

Mirza: "Pakistan should practice hard on their lack of playing short pitched deliveries, because all of their opponents have found their weak point now...!!!"

Amir: "I fail to understand why Sohail Tanweer is preferred over Junaid Khan. Sohail played all five one days and two 20/20 but did not justify his place in any of the game."

Mansoor: "I suspect a lot of changes in the sqaud for the upcoming tour to SA, since the pakistani selectors are reluctant to announce the team, it hints that they don't want to demoralize the current squad."

Maze: "5 allrounders again (Hafeez, Malik, Afridi, Razzaq and Tanvir) and no Junaid Khan. Please somebody explain to me how Sohail Tanvir is better than Junaid Khan. If you're gonna raise the point Tanvir being able to bat than let me remind you that Tanvir's batting average is whopping 6.8!"

Outsidoffstump: "Regardless of batting first or second, Pakistan will lose. They don't seem up for it!"

Imran: "Well - There may be some changes in playing elven of both sides but the match result will remain same as previous. "South Africa will be on top with strong nerves and Pakistan will continue loosing with on paper strong team""

Ali Imran: "Hafeez is so desperate to not face Steyn that he has included a 4th opener in the squad???"

Latif: "Keeping in view the chasing record of Pakistan, South Africa will easily win this match as well."

Mohd Imran Kidwai: "Overdose of Pak vs S.Africa matches seems very similar to India Vs S.Lanka these days."

adnan: "Pakistan will win today with a more balanced team. Hoping that Pakistan will take the same team all the way to T20 world cup. There is ample talent in the side unfortunately insecurity for players makes them take wrong shots. Management needs to close on the 14 players for coming 12 months to bring any consistency and spirit in the team."

Team Selector: "If Pakistan chase, then they will surely lose. So, their only shot at winning this game is to bat first ..."

7.30pm - Toss: South Africa have won the toss and will bat first

Mohammad Hafeez, Pakistan captain: We wanted to chase this time. We brought in one o the batsmen as an opener, so no changes to the plan. Nasir Jamshed is in with Abdur Rehman out. We know that the crowd has been exceptionally good and supporting us a lot. Need to finish the series on a high note.

Faf du Plessis, South Africa captain: Similar wicket to the last time. Looks a bit dry. Hopefully get total of 140-plus and put pressure on them. I think our bowlers have been excellent so far in putting them under pressure. It's about who can get the best out of the conditions. We have rested JP Duminy with Henry Davids coming in for him. Still have a long way to go (with the return series coming up). Need to focus on today and look ahead after. We have a really good squad at the moment (in the build up to the World T20 2014), and are pleased with the depth on offer.

MALIK: "Pakistan will win today. They are really not predictable for the experts. But when they are continuously losing and you have lost the hope to see a win, they give a strong comeback."

saireddy: "south africa shud give change to david weise who is t20 specialist and henry davids shud replace h amla n aaron phangiso will play in for tahir dats the match winning squad i recon!!"

Suleman: "I hope Dale Steyn finds the player today whom he was looking for in that last press conference..!! I didn't get it yet was he talking about Hafeez or Afridi.?"

Ifzal: "After last game Hafeez said that batsmen need to step up and take responsibility. What is his role in the team? part time bowler and full time captain?"

We are just a few minutes from the toss. Do you agree with Kepler's assessment of batting first, or would you rather chase?

7.25pm So what is there to look forward to in this encounter? Pakistan will be hurting after yet another abysmal show with the bat, while South Africa's Quinton de Kock and Faf du Plessis got some crucial time in the middle. Firdose Moonda breaks down what to look out for, and what Pakistan need to do in order to make this series more of a contest.

7.20pm Kepler Wessels gives us the pitch report. Not too dissimilar from the previous match, so whoever wins the toss would look to bat first.

7.15pm And so we come to the final match of the series. This is the 2nd and final T20 of South Africa's tour of the UAE. Had enough of Pakistan-South Africa cricket? If you haven't, the good news is that there is a return series in just about five days' time, so you can get more of your fix, this time in the beautiful environs of South Africa.

You can almost hear the sigh of relief from fans...

0.5

Mohammad Irfan to de Kock, 1 run, 137 kph, Irfan bangs it in short as de Kock goes for the lofted pull through midwicket. He instead hits this straight up towards mid-on, with the ball carrying far enough to beat the fielders inside the ring

0.6

Mohammad Irfan to Amla, no run, raps Amla on the pads first up, but this one was outside the line so no appeal from the Pakistanis. The battle continues between Irfan and Amla, with the latter having his number of late

Monish Pokhrel: "The only way Pak can win today is if they restrict SA to below 100, and that is the only way as the batsmen with big name and fame bt poor performance are unreliable."

1.1

Abdul Razzaq to de Kock, 1 wide, 128 kph, and starts off with the most gentle of looseners down the leg side

1.1

Abdul Razzaq to de Kock, FOUR, 125 kph, overpitched from Razzaq on middle as de Kock just hammers this back over to midwicket, with the ball hitting just before the rope. Umpire signals a four

1.2

Abdul Razzaq to de Kock, FOUR, Razzaq shortens his length and de Kock continues where he left off, belting this down the ground for another four

1.3

Abdul Razzaq to de Kock, no run, 126 kph, de Kock steps down to this length ball, but drives straight to mid-off

OmarM: "de Kock is showing his intentions clearly, to attack the bowlers. PAK opening batsmen are not courageous anymore!"

End of over 2 (15 runs) South Africa 20/0 (RR: 10.00)
HM Amla    1* (2b)      Abdul Razzaq    1-0-14-0

2.2

Mohammad Irfan to de Kock, 1 run, 140 kph, length ball from Irfan as de Kock clears the front leg to whack this down to deep midwicket. De Kock is definitely looking to have a good time out there

2.3

Mohammad Irfan to Amla, 1 run, 131 kph, Amla stands tall as he flicks this length ball off the pads to the leg side

Idrees: "During the whole period of 2013, Misbah was the only one who gave some respectability to Pak team scores both in One dayers & tests (even facing most criticism like TUK TUK etc), he should be there for T20s for the purpose of full quota of overs' utilization"

2.4

Mohammad Irfan to de Kock, FOUR, 138 kph, fullish length from Irfan as de Kock goes for the flick down the leg side, but instead gets a leading edge which spoons up and over him and the keeper, and travels far enough to get to the fine leg boundary. Fortuitous there for the left-hander, as it looked all but out

Irfan is in some discomfort here. Was kneeling on the pitch and rubbing his hip, and he seems to be gently massaging that area. He has now walked over to the umpire and has taken his cap back. Now getting escorted off the field of play by the team physio. Looks like Pakistan will have to get through today without the quick bowler

And it will be Shoaib Malik to finish the over off. Just two balls to go.

2.5

Shoaib Malik to de Kock, 1 run, starts round the wicket and pitches on a length which is nurdled to the leg side by de Kock

2.6

3.3

Sohail Tanvir to de Kock, no run, 133 kph, this time follows de Kock who looks to make room to his towards the off side. This one rushes him onto his pads just outside a leg stump line

Aamir Khan: "My question is what basis they having Razzaq starting the bowling with the new ball? He bowl slower then the spinner bowlers. May God have mercy on this team, selection committee and the nation."

3.4

Sohail Tanvir to de Kock, 1 run, low, full toss outside off which was begging to be hit to the boundary. Instead, de Kock times it sweetly to short extra-cover

3.6

Sohail Tanvir to Amla, 1 run, 106 kph, shorter length ball which Amla eases down to third man off the back foot

Saiyam: "Irfans played few ODI's and a few T20's, what is this talk about giving him rest? How can you be a full time pacer and go off the field in a T20 game. It doesn't make sense to me that you can't bowl 4 overs and then leave the field. Obviously if this was a test match then I would see no reason to go off, but seriously its only a T20."

End of over 4 (4 runs) South Africa 32/0 (RR: 8.00)

4.2

Saeed Ajmal to Amla, 1 run, flighted again on a more leg side line as Amla is able to flick this off his pads for one

4.3

Saeed Ajmal to de Kock, FOUR, short from Ajmal as de Kock has ample time to get on the back foot and power this away to the midwicket gap for a boundary

Adnan: "I wonder if Irfan got injured seriously and need stretcher, from where they get jumbo size stretcher."

4.4

Saeed Ajmal to de Kock, OUT, flighted once more as de Kock goes for bait with a slog sweep outside off. Hits this higher than farther away as the fielder stationed at deep midwicket comes in to pounce on the chance. Able to hold his nerve sufficiently as Pakistan make their first strike of the match

With that wicket Ajmal becomes the top overall wicket-taker in T20s

Rakesh Sampat: "Du Plessis is simply incapable of hitting the big ones and when you are batting around Amle, it's up to the other guy's to kep going for the big hit's and allow Amla to be the pivot around which a big total is built. Du Plesis plays so slowly, that the entire momentum of the SA innings in the early over's is simply lost and that makes the difference between a Normal total and a huge one."

Tanvir back into the attack

Yet another wicket thrown away. Very uncharacteristic from the South Africans

19.6

Sohail Tanvir to Davids, OUT, and Tanvir finishes things off with a wicket as he bowls a slow bouncer once more, this one not too high as Davids looks to cut it away over the infield, but instead drags it on to his stumps to end the innings

H Davids b Sohail Tanvir 0 (3m 2b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

And with that South Africa reach a healthy score of 150 for 5. Hafeez did well in rotating his bowlers, and with Irfan pulling up, the pressure was always on the bowling side. Luckily for him, the team is blessed with a number of viable allrounders, so he was able to make up the overs here and there. Faf du Plessis and Hashim Amla both played brilliant knocks to prop up the innings. Will this target be too steep for Pakistan? Stay tuned for the answer.
