reads: India 22, Zimbabwe 5, tied 2.Umpires Steve Dunne and Daryl Harper were officiating in their
91st and 39th match respectively.Sachin Tendulkar was appearing in his 23rd match against the
Zimbabweans in ODIs. He now holds the record of making most
appearances against Zimbabwe moving ahead of fellow Indian
Md.Azharuddin.Stuart Carlisle, on 5, completed his 1000 runs in ODIs. He was
playing his 51st match and 48th innings. Carlisle became the tenth
Zimbabwean and 143rd batsman overall to do so.Alistair Campbell scored his fourth ODI hundred in his 141st
match. He now holds the record of scoring most hundreds for Zimbabwe
along with former teammate Neil Johnson.Campbell's unbeaten 105 is the highest innings for Zimbabwe
against India. This obliterates the previous highest of 102 made on
two occasions - by Grant Flower at Cuttack on 09-04-1998 and Craig
Wishart at Harare on 30-09-1998.Campbell also became the fourth Zimbabwean to carry his bat
throughout the completed innings. Andy Flower (115* v Sri Lanka at New
Plymouth on 23-02-1992), Grant Flower (84* v England at Sydney in
1994-95) and Neil Johnson (132* v Australia at Lord's on 09-06-1999)
are the others to do so for Zimbabwe.Campbell now has an aggregate of 787 runs from 25 matches against
India which makes him the batsman with most runs for Zimbabwe against
India. The previous record was held by Grant Flower who has an
aggregate of 718 runs from 25 matches.Zaheer Khan (4-42) recorded his personal best career figures in
his 7th match. He betters his previous best of 3-37 also against
Zimbabwe at this venue on October 22, 2000. He became the 24th Indian on
the 68th occasion to bag four wickets in a match.Zaheer Khan has now taken 14 wickets in seven matches. Nine of his
dismissals have come as `bowled' making a healthy percentage of
64.28. This is the highest proportion of `bowled' dismissals by any
bowler with atleast 10 wickets in a career. The previous record was
held by England's Peter Lever, whose six wickets out of an aggregate
of 11 (54.55 %) were bowled.Tendulkar got out for the 106th time in his career as caught in
the field. He has now been dismissed in this fashion on most occasions
in ODIs. The previous record was on the name of another Indian
Mohammad Azharuddin with 105 such dismissals. Just for the record, Sri
Lanka's Sanath Jayasuriya has been dismissed on 104 occasions in this
mode.Saurav Ganguly on 50 completed his 6000 runs in ODIs. He became the
third Indian after Mohammad Azharuddin and Sachin Tendulkar and the 18th
batsman overall to do so. Ganguly is now the quickest to complete 6000
runs in ODIs in terms of least matches taken to accomplish this
feat. He needed 152 matches as against the 156 by West Indian Viv
Richards in 1988-89. However Richards still holds the record of
reaching this landmark in least number of innings. Richards needed 141
innings as against Ganguly's 147.Ganguly has now scored 2287 runs in 62 matches and innings in daynight matches which takes him past Mohammad Azharuddin's tally of 2273
runs in 83 matches (and 79 innings). Now only Sachin Tendulkar with
3500 runs from 84 matches and innings is ahead of Ganguly.Vinod Kambli scored his 14th fifty in ODIs. He had last scored a
fifty against Pakistan at Karachi on 30-09-1997. Since then he has
appeared in 19 matches without making a fifty and with a highest of
unbeaten 39 (against Kenya at Nairobi on 03-10-2000).Travis Jayawardene's three wickets in this match took his tally to nine
after five matches. He has now captured the maximum wickets for
Zimbabwe in ODIs after first five matches. The previous record was of
eight wickets which was jointly held by Peter Rawson and Everton
Matambanadzo.Campbell won his seventh Man of the Match award in ODIs.
