Pakistan v Sri Lanka ODI Series - 5th ODI

Pakistan v Sri Lanka

Pakistan won by 3 wickets (with 16 balls remaining)

Dilly and UT are out there. Gul has the new ball as always, and here's to another bunch of stunning legcutters. I am Nitin Sundar bringing you the game.

"I am about to cry! Can anyone kindly tell me that who the hell is the vice-captain of the Pakistani team?" I am afraid Hunbbel, if they haven't announced one, there's no way I can help your tears there.

A detailed and heart-felt explanation from Anjana: "The current situation with Sri Lankan cricket is not something which has just come out of the blue. There may have been several factors that may have triggered the recent catastrophe but the underlying cause is something that has been building up pressure for a long time. The mismanagement politics and corruption in the administration is the root issue for this and we saw glimpses of player frustration coming out in the form of Sangakkara's resignation and his subsequent speech at the MCC as well as Trevor Bayliss's comment after he left his tenure as coach. Otherwise there was no reason for successful captains such as Mahela and Sangakkara stepping down when they were on the top of their game. Players have been fighting against the tide and performing well for years and years but no it seems have gotten so bad that they've lost their will to fight anymore and it is showing in the way of their performances now. The best example for this is that the cricketers still have not been paid for their appearances in the world cup and all subsequent tours. Did you hear any of them complaining about it publicly? No. That shows the respect they have for their team and country. And some people complain that the players as greedy for going to play in the IPL. They need to realize that for the past 8 months all these guys have been playing for their country for free and these are professional sportsmen mind you and it is their livelihood."

The game is of course being played at the lovely stadium in Abu Dhabi. It has a look on feel of its own, with grass banks, a rarity in this part of the world, and a space-age style press box. The pitch has been watered recently, and still has some moisture on it. The conditions are quite breezy, which the players won't mind at all. Not the best of crowds in, but hopefully things will improve in the evening. The T20 on Friday is sure to be well attended.

Misbah tosses the coin with both hands (the man has a style of his own for everything!), but Dilshan calls right and Sri Lanka will bat. "Mahela's absence is a big loss for us, but it is another opportunity for the experienced Chamara Silva," he says. Here's more on Sri Lanka's woes in the super insightful preview written by one of the best cricket writers doing the rounds. Someone had to say it.

Misbah lets us in on a huge insight: "The team that bats well is going to win." Asad Shafiq, Junaid Khan and Sohail Tanvir get a game. Farhat, Cheema and Sarfraz on the bench. This means, Umar Akmal will be keeping wicket. The best keeper in this Pakistan XI is only the third best keeper in his own family ... surely the second best.

"@Nitin, you don't think the fact that they don't get paid has an impact on performance? It would on mine." Grame, you make a very valid point. It completely slipped me.

2.20 pm Hello all! Anyone of you know what's gone so hopelessly wrong with the Sri Lankan team in recent times? Do let me know. In the meantime, they gear up for the final ODI against Pakistan. Toss in ten minutes.

0.1

Umar Gul to Tharanga, 2 runs, 132 kph, full ball angled across Tharanga who gets the front foot across and pushes square.

0.2

Umar Gul to Tharanga, no run, holds the length back, the perfect line once again as it angles across and good carry too. Tharanga leaves.

0.3

Umar Gul to Tharanga, no run, ooh, tentative. Tharanga has a feel for a ball well outside off, and as he's been doing all series he plays well in front of the body. Escapes from edging this time.

0.4

Umar Gul to Tharanga, no run, Gul goes too wide this time, Erasmus doesn't call it a wide, but his hands must have ben twitching. Umar Akmal dives across and takes it in front of Misbah at 1st slip.

0.5

Umar Gul to Tharanga, no run, a couple of yards outside off, again impressive carry but an easy leave for Tharanga.

0.6

Umar Gul to Tharanga, no run, a beaut of a ripper to end the over. Lands back of a length outside leg as it angles away, hits the threads and then swerves away like a drunk fiend. Tharanga was groping down the wrong line. No shame in being beaten by that one. Even Bradman would have struggled to edge it.

End of over 1 (2 runs) Sri Lanka 2/0 (RR: 2.00)
WU Tharanga    2* (6b)      Umar Gul    1-0-2-0
TM Dilshan    0* (0b)

Tanvir over the stumps. Akmal is standing where a very tight first slip would be to handle the angle. Two actual slips in place too.

1.1

Sohail Tanvir to Dilshan, no run, angled away across Dilshan who lets the ball go.

1.2

Sohail Tanvir to Dilshan, no run, back of a length, this time Dilshan covers the line and defends to the off side.

1.3

Sohail Tanvir to Dilshan, no run, hits the seam at 124 kph and gets the ball to cut away from Dilshan, who leaves this time.

1.4

Sohail Tanvir to Dilshan, 1 wide, this one lands too wide and keeps floating away. It is called a wide, even as Dilshan pulls out of an ambitious dab at it.

1.4

Sohail Tanvir to Dilshan, no run, that's his line, the ball whistles in on a length around middle and leg and goes across Dilshan, who plays cautiously off the front foot.

1.5

Sohail Tanvir to Dilshan, no run, again, Dilshan opens the face as he prods forward and steers to point.

Shanks: "@Hunnbbel: I can't help but laugh at you. In fact Misbah himself has to check, if he the captain, everyday on the morning newspapers. And here you are crying to know who the vice-captain is!" Ouch.

1.6

Sohail Tanvir to Dilshan, 1 run, ends with another searching delivery, this time it finishes on the pads and Dilshan whips to midwicket for his first run.

End of over 2 (2 runs) Sri Lanka 4/0 (RR: 2.00)
TM Dilshan    1* (6b)      Sohail Tanvir    1-0-2-0
WU Tharanga    2* (6b)      Umar Gul    1-0-2-0

2.1

Umar Gul to Dilshan, FOUR, that's the Dilshan we all love. Short of a length ball, wide outside off and swinging away into his smashing zone, he gets the front foot across and cracks it with a vengeace through the covers.

2.2

Umar Gul to Dilshan, 2 runs, Gul over-compensates, on the pads at 138 kph and Dilshan works it square for four more.

2.3

Umar Gul to Dilshan, no run, the big indipper at 135 kph, the bounce on this track is impressive so far. The ball jags into Dilshan who is pushing forward and he gets into an awry position as it thuds into his midsection.

2.4

Umar Gul to Dilshan, no run, again cuts him up with a big inducker. How many new-ball bowlers can mix these with the legcutters as well as this man does, and at this pace? Dilshan is again in a mess as he gets the front foot across and into no position to handle the big inward movement.

2.5

Umar Gul to Dilshan, 1 run, Dilshan adjusts well, pushes more watchfully to the off side, and covers the line as the ball comes in. Single to point.

2.6

Umar Gul to Tharanga, 1 run, squares him up. Tharanga stays on the crease and does his best to cover the line, but the ball keeps going away and takes the outside edge to run away to third man.

End of over 3 (8 runs) Sri Lanka 12/0 (RR: 4.00)
WU Tharanga    3* (7b)      Umar Gul    2-0-10-0
TM Dilshan    8* (11b 1x4)      Sohail Tanvir    1-0-2-0

3.1

Sohail Tanvir to Tharanga, 1 wide, angled down the leg side, Tharanga stays inside the line and lets it go.

3.1

Sohail Tanvir to Tharanga, no run, Tanvir slants this one in prodigiously, this time in the air. Tharanga arrests his forward press to get the bat down on a tentative push drive to mid-on.

3.2

Sohail Tanvir to Tharanga, no run, better from UT, stays back and defends confidently as the ball swings in.

3.3

Sohail Tanvir to Tharanga, OUT, and gone. Tanvir has bowled a few huge inswingers and now slips in the away-swinger. When he's on song, he gets these to snake about madly. Tharanga didn't spot the movement, he got the front foot out and looked to defend to the off side, but the deviation was too much. The feather carries into Umar's gloves and Tharanga walks.

WU Tharanga c †Umar Akmal b Sohail Tanvir 3 (16m 10b 0x4 0x6) SR: 30.00

Round the stumps now.

I think Hasan sent this comment before the last ball. "I am not sure what Sohail Tanvir is doing in the team. One good IPL season does not mean he is a good bowler. His record speaks for himself. 150+ average in ODIs last year and 60+ this year and he is still in the team. Does he really deserve to be in the best XI? Pakistan already has so many allrounders in this team, so if he is in the team for being a bowling allrounder then that too makes no sense! Absolutely bizzare!"

3.4

Sohail Tanvir to Chandimal, 1 run, edged and nearly gone in the slips. Tanvir sends this in from wide of the crease and gets the ball to angle away sharply, the batsman is squared up and edges, I think it dropped just short of first slip who was diving to his right.

3.5

Sohail Tanvir to Dilshan, 2 runs, width for Dilshan, he heaves furiously through the covers for a couple.

3.6

Sohail Tanvir to Dilshan, 2 runs, ends with one on the pads, Dilshan on-drives for another couple.

End of over 4 (6 runs) Sri Lanka 18/1 (RR: 4.50)
TM Dilshan    12* (13b 1x4)      Sohail Tanvir    2-0-8-1
LD Chandimal    1* (1b)      Umar Gul    2-0-10-0

4.1

Umar Gul to Chandimal, 1 wide, too wide this outswinger from Gul and it called a wide.

4.1

Umar Gul to Chandimal, no run, back of a length, angling in off the seam and defended to the off side.

4.2

Umar Gul to Chandimal, no run, Chandimal stays back and defends as he shuffles across. Gul lands this back of a length outside off.

4.3

Umar Gul to Chandimal, no run, here comes the indipper, Gul's wrist subtly changes position behind the ball - no change in action or drop in pace. Chandimal is inside the line and in no position to play down the ground.

4.4

Umar Gul to Chandimal, 1 leg bye, this one ends on the pads, Chandimal looks to nudge square for a single and gets a leg bye. Gul isn't happy with the line, and practices his release a couple of time.

4.5

Umar Gul to Dilshan, OUT, boy, this is the ghost of Dilshan. A pale imitation of the batsman who used to pulp the new ball. What a tame stroke to go. He hasn't sorted out Gul all series, and faithfully nurdles another one into Umar's gloves. It was Gul's peachy away seamer, landing back of a length outside off and going away. Dilshan just sparred at it on the up without getting the foot across. A nothing shot. SL in all sorts of trouble, again.

TM Dilshan c †Umar Akmal b Umar Gul 12 (24m 14b 1x4 0x6) SR: 85.71

4.6

Umar Gul to Sangakkara, no run, Sanga shuffles onto the off stump line and defends a length ball to the off side.

End of over 5 (2 runs) Sri Lanka 20/2 (RR: 4.00)
KC Sangakkara    0* (1b)      Umar Gul    3-0-11-1
LD Chandimal    1* (5b)      Sohail Tanvir    2-0-8-1

Tanvir round the stumps.

5.1

Sohail Tanvir to Chandimal, no run, keeps it well wide of Chandimal, who doesn't go for it.

5.2

Sohail Tanvir to Chandimal, FOUR, gorgeous drive. Helped of course by the fact that mid-on is not where he should normally be. Over-pitched on off stump, Chandimal eases into a rolling drive, getting the front foot in position and powering it all along the turf.

5.3

Sohail Tanvir to Chandimal, no run, back of a length from over the stumps, he squares him up immediately with the angle and Chandimal defends to the off side off the outer half of the blade.

5.4

Sohail Tanvir to Chandimal, no run, gets behind the line this time and defends to the off side from the crease.

5.5

Sohail Tanvir to Chandimal, no run, ooh, Chandimal attempts the wafty steer away from the body as Tanvir swings the ball away from well wide of off stump.

5.6

Sohail Tanvir to Chandimal, no run, ends with one that lands on leg and seams across. This time Chandimal is solidly behind it.

Apologies for the headline glitch. Indeed, SL is the team that has lost its openers.

End of over 6 (4 runs) Sri Lanka 24/2 (RR: 4.00)
LD Chandimal    5* (11b 1x4)      Sohail Tanvir    3-0-12-1
KC Sangakkara    0* (1b)      Umar Gul    3-0-11-1

6.1

Umar Gul to Sangakkara, no run, pacy from Gul, back of a length and very close to Sanga's off stump. He shows good judgement to leave it.

6.2

Umar Gul to Sangakkara, no run, lands on middle this time and holds its line. Sanga stays on the crease and defends to mid-off.

Round the stumps.

"Can someone please explain to me the reasons Pakistan keep producing so many good fast bowlers!! I am clueless really? Is it the domestic pitches which gives them enough confidence or kind of cricket balls they use in their street games?" Indeed, Rohit, it is the pitches, and by extension the cricketing culture. Just check the number of five-fors in the QEA Trophy to get an idea.

6.3

Umar Gul to Sangakkara, FOUR, class from Sanga. Short and wide outside off, not quite the fill-your-boots kind of width. Sanga hops across, stays beside the line and unfurls the wrists to send it purring through point.

6.4

Umar Gul to Sangakkara, 1 run, too straight from Gul, Sanga stays on the crease and punches to mid-on.

There's a breeze blowing across from right to left now.

6.5

Umar Gul to Chandimal, 2 runs, Chandimal stays back, rides the bounce and plays a Sehwag-style cut backward of point and gets a couple.

6.6

Umar Gul to Chandimal, no run, back of a length and angled in sharply to end the over. Chandimal defends from the crease.

End of over 7 (7 runs) Sri Lanka 31/2 (RR: 4.42)
LD Chandimal    7* (13b 1x4)      Umar Gul    4-0-18-1
KC Sangakkara    5* (5b 1x4)      Sohail Tanvir    3-0-12-1

Eliya: "@Nitin and Rohit - PLEASE check the stats of Sadaf Husain! Incredible!" Will do during the break.

7.1

Sohail Tanvir to Sangakkara, no run, Tanvir keeps it short of a length outside off, Sanga spots the angle well and defends.

7.2

Sohail Tanvir to Sangakkara, no run, polite away seamer, angles in and straightens outside off. Sanga leaves.

7.3

Sohail Tanvir to Sangakkara, 1 run, another one nips away off the seam, and this time it forces Sanga to play. He's squared up and gets an outside edge that dribbles away down to third man for a single.

7.4

Sohail Tanvir to Chandimal, OUT, SL in dire straits now. Chandimal is on his way, after being hoodwinked into giving Younis slip-catching practice. A little unconventional gem of a delivery that, from Tanvir. Swirls out of his snappy wrist, angling across from over the stumps, short of a driving length, it lands on the stumps and then whistles away deceptively. Chandimal was on the back foot, doing his best to read the deviation, and offered the bat in an attempt to guide it square. The ball had other plans, though, it swerved away enough to take the outside edge and Younis takes it really well, low at second slip.

LD Chandimal c Younis Khan b Sohail Tanvir 7 (19m 14b 1x4 0x6) SR: 50.00

What a situation for Chandimal to come out to bat in.

7.5

Sohail Tanvir to Silva, 1 wide, this one slips well down the leg side and Chamara lets it go.

Round the stumps. He's confusing them endlessly by swapping the line and angle.

7.5

Sohail Tanvir to Silva, no run, there, beaten again. Angles in, lands on the seam outside off and darts away. Chamara looks puzzled as it buzzes past his outside edge.

7.6

Sohail Tanvir to Silva, no run, finishes with a straight ball on the middle and leg line, defended to the leg side carefully.

End of over 8 (2 runs) Sri Lanka 33/3 (RR: 4.12)
LPC Silva    0* (2b)      Sohail Tanvir    4-0-14-2
KC Sangakkara    6* (8b 1x4)      Umar Gul    4-0-18-1

8.1

Umar Gul to Sangakkara, no run, short of a length outside off, Sanga hangs back and defends to the off side.

Aziz: "@ Rohit, its culture, who are the famous crickers in th ecountry (Imran, wasim, waqar) they like bowlers and they produce bowlers. look at the indian today stands were emplty at wankade and tomorrow they will be full. they love batters and they produce them. nobody bothers to watch zaheer running." True to an extent, India does love its batsmen more.

8.2

Umar Gul to Sangakkara, no run, beaten again. Gul slips one with the angle across Sanga's outside edge. He had to play at that from the crease, but at least he wasn't feeling for it away from the body.

8.3

Umar Gul to Sangakkara, no run, short of a length on middle and going across. Defended down the track.

8.4

Umar Gul to Sangakkara, no run, fuller this time, Sanga gets onto the front foot and defends to the off side.

Taiyab: "Sadaf - 133 wkts @ 16? SR 33? Get him in the team please!" Golly, what a record that is!

8.5

Umar Gul to Sangakkara, no run, width outside off, Sanga tries to smash it away but finds point with his well-timed cut.

Umer Khayyam: "here is a bit of a stat update for you people, top 3 fast bowlers from QEA Trophy Grade-1 this year. Sadaf Hussain, 43 wickets in 6 matches at 16.55 average. M. Khaleel, 43 wickets in 7 matches at 17.27. And our good-old Rana Naved, 36 wickets in 6 matches at 18.6. how good is the bench strength..!" Stunning numbers, especially if you contrast them with what's been happening at the Ranji Trophy.

8.6

Umar Gul to Sangakkara, no run, nips away from Sanga, who hangs back and opens the face to defend to the off side.

End of over 9 (maiden) Sri Lanka 33/3 (RR: 3.66)
KC Sangakkara    6* (14b 1x4)      Umar Gul    5-1-18-1
LPC Silva    0* (2b)      Sohail Tanvir    4-0-14-2

9.1

Sohail Tanvir to Silva, no run, Tanvir is making the ball talk in Greek and Latin to the Lankan batsmen. Chamara is beaten outside off yet again, hanging his bat away from the body after making an apology of a forward press. The ball seams away splendidly late and misses the edge.

9.2

Sohail Tanvir to Silva, no run, squared up again, he edges it into the cordon now as Tanvir seams another one away.

9.3

Sohail Tanvir to Silva, 1 run, and an unintended edge to finish the sequence. Chamara came forward, he was searching for the ball and then wanted to drag his bat out of the stroke, but the ball found it and took the edge to roll past the slips.

9.4

Sohail Tanvir to Sangakkara, no run, boy, Tanvir is looking as unplayable as he was in IPL 2008. This one curled in so much, it forced Sanga to check his cut and convert it into a drive, before checking the drive and converting it into a defensive push, as it kept coming in towards the pads.

9.5

Sohail Tanvir to Sangakkara, no run, goes the other way now, Sanga is watchful and spots the movement just in time.

9.6

Sohail Tanvir to Sangakkara, 1 run, too full and too straight, worked square for a single.

End of over 10 (2 runs) Sri Lanka 35/3 (RR: 3.50)
KC Sangakkara    7* (17b 1x4)      Sohail Tanvir    5-0-16-2
LPC Silva    1* (5b)      Umar Gul    5-1-18-1

Finally, Junaid gets a spell! I have waited for this all series. Over the stumps.

10.1

Junaid Khan to Sangakkara, FOUR, not the best of starts. Over-pitched outside off to the master, and Sanga says thank you as he eases into a comprehensive cover drive.

Two slips.

10.2

Junaid Khan to Sangakkara, 2 runs, shortens the length and produces the edge immediately. Junaid gets it to straighten after angling in towards off stump and Sanga steers the edge to third man. Ajmal does extremely well to save four.

10.3

Junaid Khan to Sangakkara, FOUR, gorgeous from Sanga! Carbon copy of the first ball, except that Sanga managed to make the cover drive look even more beautiful this time. Class act, as Rameez would say.

10.4

Junaid Khan to Sangakkara, 1 run, too short and angling towards the hips, Sanga nudges behind square for a single.

I like Saad Bajwa's last line! "Elaborating on the cricketing culture point, yes even in the most basic street cricket in Pakistan, you're good if you bowl as fast as you can. Secondly, our fast bowlers' lengths are different from others, theylike bowling up targetting the stumps. Bowled and LBW are preferred rather than caught behind etc. Can't rely on our fielders too much," he says.

10.5

Junaid Khan to Silva, OUT, Chamara's not made much of an impact after flying into the UAE. Junaid strikes in his first over, with a 139 kph delivery that did little off the pitch. It angled across Chamara at pace, landing outside off and inviting the drive. Chamara gladly obliged, providing Misbah with some more slip catching practice. Disaster for the Lankans.

LPC Silva c Misbah-ul-Haq b Junaid Khan 1 (16m 6b 0x4 0x6) SR: 16.66

Angelo walks out with his team in horrible shape.

10.6

Junaid Khan to Mathews, no run, and Junaid nearly slips one through him. Angled across, landing on middle and straightening, Mathews gets the front pad across and only just manages to defend to the leg side.

End of over 11 (11 runs) Sri Lanka 46/4 (RR: 4.18)

11.1

Sohail Tanvir to Sangakkara, FOUR, Sanga continues to roll. On his pads, he shuffles into the line and helps the straying Tanvir down to fine leg for four.

Across games, SL have lost their last 11 wickets for 65 runs ...

11.2

Sohail Tanvir to Sangakkara, FOUR, Sanga is doing this all by himself. Another one over-pitched outside off, Sanga walks into the cover drive and picks up four more.

11.3

Sohail Tanvir to Sangakkara, no run, back of a length this time, defended to the off side.

11.4

Sohail Tanvir to Sangakkara, 1 wide, big wide down the leg side, and really impressive take from Umar who leaps across.

11.4

Sohail Tanvir to Sangakkara, FOUR, Sanga is going after him, getting as many runs as he can before his team-mates gift their wickets away. Short ball outside off, he stands tall beside the line and veritably smacks it up and over backward point.

11.5

Sohail Tanvir to Sangakkara, no run, back of a length and angling in, Sanga covers the line and defends.

11.6

Sohail Tanvir to Sangakkara, 1 run, darted into the pads at 122 kph - his pace is not his strength - Sanga dabs it along to deep backward square leg for one.

End of over 12 (14 runs) Sri Lanka 60/4 (RR: 5.00)

"Like this idea of using 2 new balls. But why do they use one ball for Sanga (that hits the middle of the bat) and another for everyone else?" wonders James. It does look like Sanga is batting on a different planet, to be fair.

12.1

Junaid Khan to Sangakkara, 1 run, Junaid swings this in at 139 kph, Sanga gets forward and push-drives to mid-on for a quick single.

12.2

Junaid Khan to Mathews, 1 run, another edge into the slips, but this doesn't carry to Younis at second slip. Angelo did well to at least proffer soft hands as the ball shaped across the bat face to take an outside edge.

12.3

Junaid Khan to Sangakkara, no run, buzzes outside off at 139 kph, and Sanga leaves. Afridi looks fidgety. He's worried he won't have any wickets to take, at this rate?

12.4

Junaid Khan to Sangakkara, 1 run, Sanga stays on the crease and guides a short ball to point. Misfield by Prof. Hafeez at point allows the single.

If Pakistan keep bowling like this, the England series coming up should be delicious... I can't wait.

12.5

Junaid Khan to Mathews, 1 run, Angelo whips after getting the front foot well across. Single wide of mid-on.

12.6

Junaid Khan to Sangakkara, no run, bouncer at 142 kph, from that lovely open-chested action of Junaid's - doesn't seem to take anything out of him to bowl this fast. Sanga ducks under it in a hurry.

End of over 13 (4 runs) Sri Lanka 64/4 (RR: 4.92)

"A man the size and stature of Sohail Tanvir should be bowling a lot quicker than this. Its almost like watching Joel Garner steaming in and bowling just slightly quicker than Afridi's faster ball." Different strokes for different folks, Pathan. We have a lot of out-and-out quicks doing the rounds, eepecially in Pak. Tanvir makes the ball do magic at 120 kph. I'll take it. Ajmal comes on with a slip. Over the stumps. Interesting move, he normally comes on quite late.

13.1

Saeed Ajmal to Mathews, no run, tossed up and turning in, Mathews leans out to defend to the leg side.

13.2

Saeed Ajmal to Mathews, no run, again, Mathews tries to cover the line and defend.

13.3

13.3

Saeed Ajmal to Mathews, no run, loopy ball, defended off the front foot.

13.4

Saeed Ajmal to Mathews, no run, leans out to reach the flight and defend with soft hands.

13.5

Saeed Ajmal to Mathews, no run, doosra now, straightens from a full length outside off, and Mathews plays it down the track.

13.6

Saeed Ajmal to Mathews, no run, another doozie to end the over, Mathews was on the front foot and played it with the spin into the off side. Drinks in Abu Dhabi, and Sri Lanka can do with a break.

"@Nitin, we Pakistanis do not like if our attack bowler is bowling at 120ks. Does not matter even if he is doing magic or not, we want pace" I love the attitude, Atif!

14.1

Junaid Khan to Sangakkara, 2 runs, Junai sprays one on Sanga's pads and he whips it away through midwicket for a couple.

"Yowza in Pashto means 'go away and very far away' - the language Umar Gul speaks. Nitin did you know this before typing?" No way, Aziz! Interesting.

Shahid Afridi to Mathews, 1 run

42.2

Shahid Afridi to Mendis, OUT, Afridi has a wicket, and he doesn't even celebrate in usual style. It is the quick fast ball that angles across the left hander. Jeevan is sucked into the trap, he leans out and searches for the drive, but the ball misses the edge. And then, for some reason, Jeevan takes his back foot out of the crease as he over-balances, and then comically falls down three yards out of the crease.
